Chapter 499 - Chapter 150: Waiting for You to Become a Companion (Part 2)

"Come with me, Vid!" Moro pulled him through a small door into the castle and asked, "Do you know how to edit the footage we've recorded?"

"A little," Vid replied.

"Great!" Moro said happily. "I thought I would have to kidnap an editor from Aslan's place! This makes things much easier... Dear Hanna, can I borrow your scissors?"

As they passed by a woman holding a basket, Moro suddenly reached out and took the scissors from the basket, then cheerfully said.

The woman was stunned for a moment, then furious: "You thief, put that down! I haven't finished my work yet!"

"Sorry, sorry, I'll be done in a moment!"

Moro shouted loudly, quickly pulling Vid away.

They dashed into a room filled with Flow Mirrors of various sizes. Moro peeked outside, saw no one was following, and quickly shut the door.

He solemnly placed the scissors in Vid's hand, along with the recording Mother Mirror, and said, "Alright, start editing! I have to return these to Hanna once you're done."

Vid looked at him with a peculiar expression and asked, "Who told you that editing videos requires scissors?"

"Huh? Don't Muggles make movies this way?"

Moro scratched his head, confused. "They cut and paste the film with scissors... I got curious before and sneaked in to watch... uh..."

He picked up the Mother Mirror, realizing, "There's no film in here... right?"

"Of course not," Vid sighed. "We're wizards, we use wizard methods. You should return the scissors."

Moro gave an awkward smile, waved his Magic Wand, and the scissors wobbled into the air before quickly flying out the window.

Vid was a bit worried that scissors flying around could become a dangerous weapon but couldn't stop it in time. He shook his head and tapped the Mother Mirror with his wand.

The nearby Sub-Mirrors instantly displayed the footage they had just recorded.

The video started with the wizards arriving at the base via Portkey.

Vid watched the video while teaching Moro editing techniques.

"The spell is actually quite simple—can you use the memory extraction magic?" Vid asked.

"Of course, I can," Moro said.

"Then it's easy. You need to treat the video as the 'memory' of the device and choose the parts you need."

As Vid spoke, he gently flicked his Magic Wand.

Just as the video played a scene of wizards rushing toward the base, a silver-white mist was drawn out by his wand, swirling around its tip, looking very similar to memory mist.

"It's actually no different from cutting and pasting film, just more flexible and simpler. But to make the video impactful and captivating, you can't just do it in a dull way."

"So what should be done?" Moro humbly asked for advice.

"First, choose impactful footage... Use a reasonable color scheme... The method and timing of camera transitions are crucial..."

After a bit of manipulation by Vid, the Sub-Mirror images were instantly divided into two sections, each playing different footage.

Moro curiously said, "Like this, people can't focus on half of it, right?"

"So to see the other half clearly, they'll watch it a second, even a third time," Vid said.

Moro tried it himself and found it true, involuntarily giving a thumbs up.

Vid continued, "Don't be afraid the audience won't see clearly. Sometimes an overload of information can be more attractive..."

"Adding eye-catching subtitles and titles is also important; it helps people immediately understand what you're trying to express..."

"Bloody scenes are easier to tolerate in black and white... and this kind of screaming noise makes many people uncomfortable and physically repulsed, so it's necessary to replace it with appropriate music..."

"I've already learned how to change colors, but how do you change the sound?" Moro asked quickly while jotting down notes in a small notebook.

"Just re-record it. Silently cast a spell on the original video, then overlay it with new music."

Vid demonstrated it for him.

"Wait, is that it?" Moro said in surprise. "Isn't this too short? There are so many useful shots that didn't make it in! I think... I think it could be a bit longer!... Is that possible?"

Perhaps because Vid's current role was "teacher," Moro's voice inexplicably sounded cautious.

Vid shook his head and said, "Do you know what a 15-second read is? Too long and it disperses attention. Content 12 to 15 seconds in length leaves a deeper impression..."

"You can break the video into several segments to reinforce memory and draw attention, then integrate them into a half-hour video to be aired around dinner time."

At this point, short videos hadn't yet become popular among Muggles, but Vid could still learn from their successful experiences.

After teaching the editing methods, he had Moro edit two segments of video himself until he completely mastered the process.

Looking at his own results, Moro suddenly turned to Vid and said, "Actually, you agree with Mr. Grindelwald's ideas, don't you? Otherwise, just telling me the spell for extracting and integrating segments would've been enough; you didn't need to teach me so much."

The footage in the Sub-Mirror was still playing, and the flickering light reflected on Vid's face, giving his expression a depth unmatched by his age.

He looked at the strange, decayed bodies of those in the footage, and softly said, "I just think things like this shouldn't happen on this planet... that's all."
