"The cradle of peace cannot nurture warriors courageous enough to enact change; what I want is merely to sow a seed of resistance in their hearts."
Grindelwald sighed: "Just now, my most important goal has been achieved... No matter how many years pass in the future, I believe the wizards present will never forget what they witnessed. They will forever remember the cruelty and greed of the Muggles, never to relax their vigilance against them."
"What about you, Vid Gray?"
"You're a smart kid. Seeing these facts, do you still, as Dumbledore said, consider Muggles a vulnerable group in need of protection?"
Grindelwald asked.
Vid pondered for a while and did not dodge the question as he did before, but instead said: "Weakness and strength are always relative, but morality and justice are not."
He paused for a moment and continued: "Muggles can harm wizards, and wizards can harm Muggles. There are unforgivable crimes within every group. To only see one part and define an entire group as enemies based on that, I think is what's truly wrong."
"But wizards were persecuted by Muggles to the point they had to isolate the Magic World, hiding like rats. That is also a fact!" Grindelwald sharply said: "Without even a foundation for equal dialogue, isn't it absurd to wish for understanding?"
"But to change reality, relying on bloody rule and slaughter won't succeed, you've already proven that." Vid said bluntly: "Muggles have been slaughtering each other for thousands of years, and more of their kind have perished by their own hands in wars than wizards have killed. Have you seen them submit?"
"How could they not?" Grindelwald sneered in retort: "Isn't there an Indian girl among your companions? Do you know how many years her country was ruled by the Brahmin and Kshatriya? The Dalits there never resisted!"
Vid was momentarily stumped but then said: "But not all Muggles are Dalits from India, and unless you can kill all educated ordinary people, you can never achieve complete domination of Muggles by wizards as you envision."
"If you kill the Muggles, then what of the other magical creatures who oppose wizard rule? Kill them, then what of the peaceful faction among wizards? If you kill everyone, who would be left beside you?"
"Hatred and slaughter are merely crude releases; they will never solve the problem!"
"To change the situation, you must understand one issue—who are our enemies? Who are our friends? Only by broadly uniting everyone and gaining more allies can we amplify our strength and specifically isolate and weaken the enemy!"
"The enemy can be wizards or Muggles, but must certainly be villains that harm the majority and violate basic morality and justice! Not just drawing a line and forcing everyone to think that those standing on the other side are all enemies as you do!"
"If you indiscriminately push everyone to the opposite side, then even the best situation will turn to ashes, just like back then when you…"
"Cough cough cough cough cough cough cough…"
Suddenly, Grindelwald started a fit of earth-shaking coughing, as if coughing his lungs out, his thin back bending like a taut bow, his violent coughing echoing throughout the room.
Vid immediately shut his mouth, his eyes subtly filled with some regret.
—Damn! Got carried away talking!
Vid watched the 110-year-old man tremble in his chair, worried that he might accidentally anger him to death.
