Chapter 375 - Chapter 80: Dumbledore Returns

He listed the tasks he needed to do in his notebook, then pondered which Magic, Ancient Magical Runes, and Spells to use.

The unclear parts could be consulted with Professor Morry later; for spells not fully mastered, he would borrow books from Madam Pince.

This lady seemed to have read the entire library collection; even if Vid could only vaguely describe the content he needed, Madam Pince would immediately find the corresponding book.

Even though she was so familiar with the library, whenever Vid saw her, she was always holding a book and reading.

Unless a student violated the library's prohibition, Madam Pince would rush over angrily and chase those students away furiously.

Like now, for instance—

A few students, who started a quarrel for unknown reasons, were chased out of the library by a flying feather duster, clutching their heads, while other students stared dumbfounded; the original whispers immediately disappeared.

The worn-out feather duster flew back next to the administrator's desk, dropping into a wicker basket, with the feathers opening and closing as if breathing.

Madam Pince smoothed her disheveled hair by her temples and returned, displaying a faint smile when she saw Vid waiting by the desk.

"What book do you need to borrow this time, dear?"

A few minutes later, Vid returned to his seat holding a thick stack of books, only to find an additional person beside him.

"—Harry?"

Harry nodded; as he was about to speak, Vid gestured for him to be quiet, then took out his Magic Wand and waved it around before putting it back.

Nearby other sounds immediately turned into a slight buzz, like bees gathering honey in the distance, hardly noticeable if you didn't pay attention.

"You can speak now." Vid said, "Don't you know about Remus' situation?"

Harry nodded, then shook his head.

"I didn't know initially, but just now… Professor McGonagall already told me."

He looked up, worriedly staring at Vid, asking: "So is it true? Remus… turned into a Werewolf in public and attacked passersby?"

Vid said: "He transformed on the streets of Hogsmeade, but probably no one saw him—"

The Vampire who witnessed it was being pursued by Dumbledore, so it doesn't count.

Those Vampires even wanted to have this reported in the newspaper, but Vid had been following the Prophet Daily closely these past days; it was all calm, and people didn't even want to pay attention to those three fugitives anymore.

Interestingly, Minister Fudge issued a law prohibiting government officials from being interviewed by the Flow Mirror, reportedly causing considerable opposition.

When Vid saw that news, he casually messaged Coliver from Machioni, equivalent to a TV station head, asking them to send a request every few days to the Ministry of Magic, requesting an interview with Ms. Umbridge.

After a moment's pause, Vid said: "Moreover, he didn't attack any passersby; Hagrid was nearby then, who subdued the frantic Remus. Dumbledore quickly arrived, and no one in Hogsmeade was hurt."

"But… why did he suddenly transform?" Harry still worriedly said: "I asked Hermione, and she said this doesn't align with Werewolf characteristics."

Vid knew Lupin must have been sabotaged, but before clarifying the reason, he didn't speak nonsensically and just said:

"Trust Professor Dumbledore—he is investigating and might tell us why soon."

Harry nodded and remained silent for a long while before speaking:

"I only hope Remus recovers soon… I requested Professor McGonagall to visit him, but the Professor didn't permit…"

"I also heard Remus wasn't sent to St Mungo's… Professor McGonagall only said someone professional is helping with his treatment, not knowing exactly who…"

Watching his expression, Vid remained silent.

Harry still envisioned it was a very skilled Healer; if he knew it was his most disliked Professor Snape, he might believe Lupin had already encountered misfortune, right?

I heard yesterday in Magic Potion Class, Professor Snape made all the first-year Gryffindor freshmen cry; even his favorite Slytherin wasn't spared…

Vid wisely swallowed that information.

...

It wasn't until Sunday noon that Vid finally received a message from Dumbledore.

He promptly rushed to the Headmaster's Office; before knocking, he saw the oak door being pushed open.

"Bang!"

The wooden door slammed against the wall, making a sound like an explosion.

Professor Snape strode out with a dark face, his terrifying gaze appeared murderous; even upon seeing Vid, it didn't ease, merely coldly snorted, flicking his wind-bloated black Robe single-handedly, stepping onto the spiral staircase.

He couldn't even wait for the staircase to slowly turn down, hastily descending while going "tap tap tap."

Vid awkwardly lowered his hand raised for greeting, and knocked on the open door.

"Come in, Vid."

Professor Dumbledore said.

Vid entered to find the Headmaster looking travel-worn, as if just returning from outside; the grey Cloak hanging beside had some damage, and his long white beard was dusted.

Dumbledore didn't give himself a Scourgify, but first retrieved a box of Lemon Sherbet Candies from the cabinet, enthusiastically offering Vid: "Would you like one?"

Vid shook his head: "Thanks, but I don't like them; they're a bit too sweet."

"It's a pity; this is my favorite Muggle sweet."

Dumbledore said, withdrawing the candy box and popping one into his mouth.

He squinted slightly, exuding a very enjoyable aura.

Vid couldn't help smiling, then saw the Headmaster wave his hand, a glass of pomegranate juice appeared before Vid; he thanked him, took a sip, not rushing to inquire.

Seeing Dumbledore, his previously somewhat anxious mood settled.

Soon, various sweet treats such as syrup pies, treacle tarts, toffee puddings filled the table.

Dumbledore thoughtfully considered for a while before carefully choosing a treacle tart as his first sweet treat today, once again recommending his beloved delicacy to Vid.

This time Vid didn't refuse; he picked a Pudding—the only item among the full table not overly sweet.

Dumbledore took a bite and sighed: "Sorry, it's just whenever I'm with Severus, his expression seems like I'm consuming poison, ruining my appetite."

"You must have been incredibly busy these few days?" Vid said understandingly, then curiously asked: "Did those Vampires cause you much trouble?"

"Vampires aren't much trouble; their backers are."

Dumbledore appeared to recall something, his expression momentarily sharp, returning to normal after a few seconds.

"Some good news." He smiled amiably: "Remus regained his sanity and should revert back by tomorrow afternoon. Then, you can bring Harry along to the infirmary to visit him."
