Chapter 354 - Chapter 59: Ancient Magic Script Class

The second class, well-prepared by Hagrid, was indeed well-received.

He knew that the students were already familiar with Tree-Protector Lofa from the maze game, so he brought in harmless little creatures, the Puffskeins.

These yellow, ball-like creatures feed on dry bogeys, but their cute appearance makes the girls forget this fact.

Padma was delighted to hold a Puffskein, almost reluctant to let go.

Quite a few students were also willing to interact with Hippogriffs.

Students from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were already accustomed to following rules, and with the previous injuries of Harry and Malfoy as a cautionary tale, no one was foolish enough to provoke these creatures that stood taller than a person.

Following Hagrid's instructions, they bowed, made eye contact, and fed the creatures. After gaining the initial trust of these beasts, the students could touch their beaks and backs, with Hagrid watching vigilantly from the side.

The orderliness of this class was unbelievable, and the cooperation among all the students was high. Even though some couldn't resist fleeing from the front of a Hippogriff, most gained the approval of these creatures.

Thus, as the class approached its latter half, a cautious Hagrid finally relaxed his rules, allowing the students to ride the Hippogriffs for a flight.

Vid was among them, and the feeling of flying over the Black Lake wasn't as good as it looked in the movies. The bird's feathers were too smooth, as if he could slip off at any moment.

It didn't feel as free as flying by himself.

But for the other students, this experience was invaluable—riding a massive beast felt much more like conquering or hunting compared to flying on a thin broomstick.

Even someone as quiet as Leian was red-faced with excitement when jumping off the back (or neck) of the creature.

"I want to be friends with Professor Hagrid!"

Privately, Michael even told Vid, "I never knew he kept Hippogriffs! Oh, that's amazing! Vid, do you know what Professor Hagrid likes?"

"Uh..." Vid thought for a moment and said, "Dangerous yet enchanting magical creatures?"

"Like..."

"Like Fire Dragons. Of course, if you could get a Manticore, he'd probably consider you his half-brother."

Michael burst into laughter after processing that.

As they passed through the empty hall, Vid slowed down a bit, waiting for Michael to go ahead before turning the Time Turner around his neck.

He still had an Ancient Magical Runes class later this morning.

The classroom for Ancient Magical Runes was at the side of Clock Square, the building closest to the Forbidden Forest. At the end of a long corridor bridge was the classroom for Ancient Magic Script Class.

On his way there, Vid happened to meet Hermione, who was also rushing over.

The brown-haired girl had just finished a class, still carrying the scent of herbs, and upon seeing Vid, she looked relieved as if saved.

"Thank Merlin! I thought I had taken the wrong way! There wasn't a single person on the way here!"

Hermione said hurriedly, "And those staircases keep moving, Griffiths kept chatting with me and almost bumped into Peeves! It was terrible!"

"If you had left earlier, you could have leisurely found your way here, and these issues wouldn't trouble you," Vid said.

Hermione retorted, "I couldn't leave earlier! I just finished my Herbology class! Turning back one hour after that leaves me with so little time!"

She was anxious, speaking hastily.

Vid, puzzled, asked, "So why did you only turn back one hour? You could have turned it twice, or even more. As long as it's not over five hours, it's basically safe."

Hermione looked at him, even more puzzled, "But if I turn it back two hours, what do I do with the extra hour before class? Just wait around doing nothing?"

Vid, helpless, said, "You could go back to the dorm and catch up on sleep. Hermione, you really should look at your own dark circles."

Hermione opened her mouth wide in surprise, as if realizing for the first time that she could do such a thing.

"No wonder you always seem to handle things so easily... But didn't we promise when we got the Time Turner that we'd only use it for studying..."

"Good rest is also for studying. Exhausting yourself won't help with your studies, will it?" Vid countered.

Hermione fell silent.

At the corridor's end, they saw a few other students who also chose the same elective standing at the classroom door, trying to figure out how to open it.

Among them was Draco Malfoy, who also took Ancient Magical Runes. When he saw Vid coming over, Malfoy's face changed slightly, and he unconsciously moved away a little bit.

But other students showed happy expressions, shouting, "Vid's here!"

"Vid surely knows how to open it!"

They made way, and when Vid reached the front, he finally understood the situation.

The door to the Ancient Magical Runes classroom was a huge stone slab with a long, thin doorway in the middle. Copper columns resembling bamboo stems could rotate segment by segment within the doorway.

Upon the copper columns, circles of Ancient Magic Texts were engraved, with a little note beside that read "Open it."

Evidently, this was how the Ancient Magic Script Class was locked.

Before Vid arrived, these students had already studied it for quite a while, armed with the Rune Dictionary and Magic Word Sound Chart, feeling dizzy and almost unable to recognize even English.

Many Ancient Magical Runes characters are very similar, and often a character has several different meanings, so deciphering is incredibly slow.

But for Vid, this naturally wasn't a problem.

After observing for a moment, he rotated the copper columns, forming a sentence with the Runic Language—

"I look down, picking up the Rune text."

This was actually a sentence printed on the title page of their textbook.

The students cheered and rushed into the Ancient Magical Runes classroom.

The spacious classroom had huge windows on both sides, providing excellent lighting, with long blue curtains hanging to the floor.

All around the walls were engraved with numerous Ancient Magical Runes symbols, and the desks were adorned with some ancient instruments, jewelry, and weapons, even unknown creature bones, all engraved with Runic Language.

However, there was no professor for the class visible in the room.

The students didn't sit quietly but moved around the room, observing the displayed items. Vid did the same, before finding a secluded spot to sit.

Soon, Hermione also sat beside him, whispering:

"—Perhaps you're right, maybe I should give myself some time to rest sometimes... But with the Time Turner, you still shouldn't use it too frequently."

Vid raised an eyebrow, "Hermione, are you worried about the dangers of reversing time?"

Hermione shook her head and lowered her voice, "It's not just that... When we turn back time, only our own time continues moving forward normally..."

"So using it frequently means that while others might live through a year, we might live through two, three... or even more..."

In the seemingly same passage of time, it feels like our lifespan is accelerating, which naturally makes people wary.

But Vid said, "I know. But if I can come of age sooner, I think it's great."

Hermione was taken aback by his response.

Just then, the Ancient Magical Runes professor entered. She appeared silently by the open classroom door, casting a cold glance over the handful of students.
