Chapter 88 - Mostly Important

"Nice play. Please never do that again."

BB put on his regular deadpan expression as he went away to wait for the coming battle. D.O.W.N had great magically fueled field agents. They had technology that seemed magical. This was in little contrast to the fact that those who didn't rely on the tech used real magic.

"What a brilliant idea that was! Robbing a group that runs cash for every criminal organization on this side of the Mississippi!"

"I understand that you're angry. But now all of you can take your cuts and donate two hundred to the landlord next time you see him."

"Don't tell me you made him put us up to this."

"It was your mission. Now, expect some more and you might even learn a few magic tricks along the way. But remember most of all, if you hear the name Diostar, don't get into it. Whether it's a hit, intelligence, or even forwarding a bill, don't get into it. Best you understand for the sake of not causing the universe to rip itself apart."

Lia wanted so badly to grab this young BB and shake him by his shirt so that way he would tell her where Sugar was. She wanted him to just tell her that Sugar is alive and to take her there. She was still confused on account of the fact that he had made everyone get off the ship besides him, Scott, and Sugar. Whatever happened there was the key to whatever he had planned.

"BB, can we have the room for a second?"

Out of everyone in the cabin, Alexandria was the first to ask for the room. Everybody besides Scott had a problem with him. Everyone besides Scott were upset that they weren't able to get the room themselves.

"Of course."

The unit piled out of the room. Alexandria closed the distance between the two fast enough that BB didn't blink as his mind couldn't process it fast enough. Without a second thought, she pushed forward her fist, and it collided with BB's jaw shortly before he hit the ground.

"You are a pathetic, manipulative, PSYCHO!"

"Anything else?"

Her boot further hit him in the chest. His heart felt like it was in a house fire. The heat got higher as the organ felt like it was being crushed. His ribs absolutely ached.

"You believe that just because you're the smart one you get a free ride and get to do things without consequences. But let me tell you, I will break you if you do anything funny."

How disappointing. I found this one to be an extremely entertaining person. My plans will change now. I need to make do on the promise to the old boss.

"I can't exactly help with that. D.O.W.N is going to be over in a few."

"You can't be serious!"

Her foot engaged his ear. As his vision rolled in the room, he could hear a ringing noise coming about. His head was beginning to ache. He couldn't take much more of it. If anything was to hurt his head worse than his plans being in shambles and the unit hating him, that would be his skull being struck multiple times. He took silent solemnly in the fact that he would probably not remember this.

"Deathly."

She knew that there was a plan happening. A part of her expected the beating to be a part of the plan. Outside, noises came about. There were so many so fast that she expected it to be a part of some elaborate ruse. But no, people were just shooting a large quantity of bullets at once.

"I'm going out for a second. If you move a muscle-"

"You're going to beat me? Just check what it is."

The thin hand on her right arm reached the brass doorknob. It was warm even though today was quite cool and nobody had their hand on it for quite some time. Alas, her hand pulled the door of which couldn't stop a bullet if it was made of foam and as it opened fully, she gasped.

"Don't worry ma'am, we have this situation handled."

For the moment and single moment alone that the door was open, she saw men move at speeds unheard of in her times. That is with the exception of what she heard of King Arthur. They were beating and shooting people who appeared just like the people she had seen in blue street. This was D.O.W.N in full swing.

"Lord have mercy."

The same hand that opened the door closed it and clutched a crucifix around her neck. When she turned from the door to the kitchen floor where she expected BB, he was gone with nothing but a small puddle of blood and a boot print leading towards the backdoor.

"Idiot."

Wanting to find her punching bad, she was off in the direction of the backwards investigator. As she went further towards the bathroom in the cabin at the west end, BB came from the east end and was holding a napkin covered in his own blood. He took a step towards the bathroom shortly before he wiped the blood from his shoe and ran in the opposite direction.

"Geez, BB, you look like hammered shit."

"Thank you, Scott. Can we go now?"

"Is it because you got beat up by a girl?"

"No, I'm hungry."

BB, without ever a second of hesitation, left to get Scott alone. See, he needed somebody to keep an eye out in case Sugar turned up.

"You really always have a plan?"

"Of course. Why else would I allow you and the others to walk around instead of being dead somewhere?"

Scott, who had taken him to some dive bar that was currently having a birthday party. Upon a closer look, BB could see that the party was for a group of bikers.

"Are you at least going to pay me back for your small dinner?"

"Hmm… no."

"I expect nothing less."
