(MARCELLO'S POV)
I pace the length of my living room like a caged animal.
The wine in my hand trembles, the dark red liquid sloshing against the crystal glass.
I've already finished an entire bottle but it's done absolutely nothing to numb this anger that's been burning inside my chest.
My hair is a mess from dragging my fingers through it over and over again. Some of the strands are sticking up, others falling over my eyes, but I don't care.
All I see when I close my eyes is that ruby necklace.
The sound of approaching footsteps draws my attention.
I turn around just as Dante and Arianna step into the living room.
"The necklace," I say immediately, striding toward them before they can even open their mouths. "Did you retrieve it?"
They exchange a tense look before Arianna faces me.
"No," she says. "Our men have been searching the city for the Viperas. There has been no sign of them so far."
Something inside me snaps.
