The next morning, Decker woke up to find Amaya snuggled up beside him, her hair messy, a soft smile on her face. He smiled, gently brushing a strand of hair off her forehead. "Morning, Amaya," he whispered, earning a sleepy smile from her.
Just then, she opened her eyes and smiled at Decker. "Good morning, Shawn." She said, her voice soft and sleepy. They both smiled at each other for a while, lost in the quiet moment.
Then Decker felt something wet and sticky. When he pulled out his hand to check, he saw blood on his fingers. He yanked off the covers, and saw that Amaya was sitting in a small spot of blood.
"Amaya! Are you..... Are you okay? We need to get you to a hospital!" he shouted, panic setting in. "
Amaya's chuckle turned into a gentle smile as she said, "It's okay, Shawn. I'm fine, really." She leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper.
"You were my first this is normal. I can't believe you're 26 like me and you didn't know this is something natural that happens for a woman's first time," she teased.
Decker's eyes locked onto Amaya's, a mix of shock and tenderness washing over him. "First time, you mean to say you were a virgin?" he whispered, his voice barely audible. Amaya nodded, a shy smile playing on her lips. Decker's expression softened, and he gently pulled her into a hug. "I'm honored, Amaya, You just gave me something so precious to you." he whispered into her hair then he kissed her on the forehead.
Shortly after they got out of bed and, after a quick shower, got dressed and headed outside, where a cheerful Alvin greeted them with a grin on his face.
"Hey! Good morning!" he chimed, eyes sparkling with amusement. "So tell me, what did the two of you get, up to last night?" He asked with a knowing smile.
Decker and Dr. Jones looked at each other for a brief moment, then looked away, their faces blushing red. They tried to play it off like nothing happened.
"Alvin, I don't know what you're insinuating, Decker and I are professionals. We went straight to bed and slept. Nothing happened." Dr. Jones said, fixing her glasses on her face. Decker nodded in agreement. "That's right."
Alvin chuckled, clearly not buying it. "I dropped off your food last night, Decker, and I guess the sleep was good." He said with a wink.
Dr. Jones's face turned bright red, while Decker shook his head. "Alvin, you're impossible."
"Hey, someone's gotta keep things interesting around here," Alvin said, grinning. "Now, Shawn and Amaya, let's get moving. We've got work to do."
Decker whispered to Dr. Jones, "I think he knows what happened last night. He just called us by our first names, and he has a key to my apartment... it's possible he heard us." He said with a sigh.
Dr. Jones's face turned red. "Well, I'm sure he won't say anything... right?" she asked.
Decker chuckled. "This is Alvin we're talking about - the man has a big mouth, but even if he does, we're consenting adults, so I'm sure we'll be fine." He reassured her.
Dr. Jones nodded slightly, trying to compose herself as Alvin called out from the driver's seat.
"Hey, guys! Let's get moving! We've got work to do!"
As they arrived at the police station, they quickly headed in and signed in. Dr. Jones went to the corner's office, while Alvin and Decker were quickly summoned by Captain Larcon.
As they entered Captain Larcon's office, they saw that he looked more tired than he did last night. "Hey, Captain, don't take this the wrong way, but you look like somebody drag you through hell and back?" Decker said with a look of concern.
Captain Larcon let out an exhausted breath. "You know, since I became captain, this week has been the most exciting week of my entire career. Let me just recap on the best things that have happened so far. First, my brother,
who lives in the city of Celestian, called me to gloat about being promoted to superintendent. Then there was the young man from a prominent family who was murdered, and we had the opportunity to tell his family, and they were so happy about the news that they threw us a party by kicking us out of their estate. What fun that was," he said sarcastically.
"After that, there was a massacre at an auto shop, and 20 bodies were found. Oh, and the good news kept coming - after that, we found five suspects in the young man's murder. And with that, I really thought things were looking up, but I've come to understand that when things go right, there's always something to mess it up. The suspects escaped from the interrogation room, and we don't know how. I got my ass chewed off by the top brass.. I now have to get a BBL because I'm sitting on my back, and There is also the governor's grandson who being beaten by someone half to death.
And if you think that's the end of it, you'd be wrong - as luck would have it, we found the five suspects again, but this time they're dead. I'm being serious - my life is awesome, I wouldn't trade it for the world," Captain Larcon said, sarcasm imminent in his voice.
A frown was on Alvin's face as he handed Captain Larcon his flask. "Here you go, Captain, you need this more than I do," he said with a smile.
Captain Larcon smiled. "Let me guess, this is Hot Box again, isn't it?"
"Actually, this time, Captain, that is just absolute vodka with Cola," Alvin said.
The captain took the flask, drinking it all in one shot. "Alvin, you are a bad influence, but I like it, I'm gonna need another one of these" he said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
Alvin grinned. "Hey, someone's gotta keep you on your toes, Captain."
"By the way Captain , where were the suspects found dead?" Decker asked.
Captain Larcon's expression turned serious. "They were found on the beach. At first, people thought they were just guys relaxing on the beach, until it got crowded and people saw that they were dead bodies," he said with a frown.
"Okay, so you want us to head over there and check things out?" Decker asked.
Captain Larcon shook his head. "No, the Special Investigation Unit and the Major Crimes Division are on this case. The two of you will be assisting Agent Williams and Agent Wayne with their investigation. They're in the lounge area waiting for you. Now, out of my office, I need to rest," he said with a smile.
Alvin and Decker exchanged a look, then headed out to meet the agents.
Decker grinned. "I know the perfect place - the karaoke studio on Dragon Lane. We can turn on the music and talk in one of the private rooms. No one will be able to eavesdrop on our conversation."
"That's the perfect spot. The owner of that place, Alex Craven, owes me a huge favor," Alvin said with a smile.
"Alvin, How do you even know Alex Craven? You know what, I don't need to know. Let's just go," Decker said, rolling his eyes.
Agent Williams chuckled. "Alvin's got connections, huh?"
Agent Wayne grinned. "Guess we're in good hands."
They headed out to the car
Then they got into the car, Alvin sliding into the driver's seat and Decker dropping into the passenger seat beside him. Agent Williams and Agent Wayne climbed into the backseat. Alvin started the engine, and they drove off towards Dragon Lane.
