Chapter 183 - Chapter 182: Tonight, I Am More Powerful Than It!

The plague in Lin'an had finally come to an end. Councilman Luo Mian's crimes would soon be fully exposed.

When that happened, he would not only be disgraced but become the eternal shame of Lin'an—

Scorned by the world.

Despised by all.

Nailed to the pillar of shame for generations to come!

But at this moment, no one cared about Luo Mian anymore. The real crisis was upon them—

Lin'an was on the verge of collapse.

West Fortress.

The sky was a storm of wings—countless White Demon Eagles filled the air.

No matter how fiercely the Military Mages fought, no matter how many they killed, the eagles kept coming, fearless and frenzied, hurling themselves toward the Safe Zone like a wave of death.

Song Jie and Tang Yue stood atop the fortress wall, joining the defense.

Song Jie raised his hand and hurled a Radiance into the sky. A blazing explosion tore through the air, and dozens of White Demon Eagles were instantly blown apart, raining down like charred feathers.

Those who saw it were dumbfounded.

Was that really Radiance? Could it even be used like that?!

But Song Jie ignored their stares. He focused only on the fight, channeling one spell after another. Each burst of light was more destructive than the last.

"When did Radiance become this powerful!?" someone gasped.

A battle-worn uncle, his face lined with years, was catching his breath nearby.

When he saw Song Jie's display, he couldn't help but shout, "Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap—this kid!!"

Meanwhile, Zhu Meng and the others were locked in combat with the Silver Sky Ruler—a Monarch-level White Demon Eagle commanding the entire horde.

Even with several Archmages working together, they were completely outmatched.

They were driven back to the fortress wall, bloodied and exhausted.

"Damn it!" Zhu Meng roared, slamming his fist into the ground. "If we can't stop that thing, Lin'an will—"

He didn't need to finish. Everyone knew what would follow.

Outside, the citizens could only watch in horror. Even the Chief Judge and the Archmages were no match for the enemy.

"Is Lin'an going to fall?" someone whispered.

No one answered. Despair filled their eyes.

The city would fall.

The demons would invade.

Their home would be reduced to ruins.

A man gazed up at the stormy sky, tears in his eyes.

"Lin'an… is it over?"

On the fortress wall, healing mages rushed to tend to the wounded.

Zhu Meng, bloodied but unyielding, growled, "As long as I still draw breath, I won't let that thing step into Lin'an!"

"Enough," Tang Zhong said grimly. "You can't stop it alone. We need another plan."

They all knew it—every powerful mage in Lin'an was gathered here, and yet none could stand against the Silver Sky Ruler.

It was hopeless… unless—

Tang Zhong's eyes suddenly lit up. "Tang Yue, has it finished shedding its skin?"

Everyone turned toward her instantly.

Tang Yue clenched her fists. "I'm not sure… but I can summon it back."

Since it was proven that the Totem Black Snake wasn't responsible for the plague, the suspicion on it had been cleared. She could finally call it forth without fear.

Zhu Meng forced himself to his feet. "Tang Yue, I was wrong before. But this concerns Lin'an's survival. I'll apologize later—to you and to your Guardian God!"

Tang Yue looked at him silently. Despite everything, he had risked his life for Lin'an. Her resentment eased.

"I'll do my best," she said firmly, then turned and ran—Song Jie following right behind her.

By West Lake, Tang Yue clasped her hands together and closed her eyes. The vast lake rippled under the night sky.

Song Jie stood beside her, waiting quietly.

Moments later, the still surface began to tremble. Waves rose higher and higher—then, with a thunderous roar, the lake exploded outward!

A colossal serpent's head burst from the depths—

The Totem Black Snake had returned!

West Fortress.

The Military Mages were barely holding on, drained and desperate. The White Demon Eagles continued their suicidal assault.

Above them, the Silver Sky Ruler circled, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

But suddenly, it froze—its crimson eyes locked on the distant West Lake.

Everyone saw it too. The ground shook. The water far away churned violently.

"What's that!?"

"It looks like… that giant snake from the reports!"

"Wait—why is it here? It's not joining the demons, is it!?"

Fear and confusion rippled through the fortress.

Then, the sky darkened further. From beyond the horizon, a massive shadow surged forth—

The Totem Black Snake, its scales gleaming with divine power, rising like a mountain from the lake!

Song Jie and Tang Yue returned to the fortress wall just in time to see it appear.

Tang Yue's hands trembled. She didn't know if the Black Snake could defeat the Silver Sky Ruler—or if it would survive the battle.

Song Jie gently took her cold hand in his. "It's stronger now—after its transformation, that bird won't stand a chance."

He said it calmly, but his eyes gleamed. He already knew the truth.

And indeed, the Silver Sky Ruler in the sky let out an uneasy screech. Even that Monarch-level creature felt threatened.

"The big guy's making a move!" Tang Yue gasped, gripping Song Jie's hand tightly.

A thick poisonous mist burst from the Black Snake's body. The White Demon Eagles that dared to approach were instantly paralyzed and fell from the sky like rain.

The Black Snake slithered forward, its massive body coiling as it charged straight for the Silver Sky Ruler!

"Look! The giant snake's fighting that eagle!" someone shouted.

The people of Lin'an watched in awe as the two titans clashed high above the clouds.

"Is it… protecting us?" another asked.

At that moment, countless White Demon Eagles dropped dead in mid-air. The fortress defenders erupted into cheers.

"We wronged it before!"

"How could we ever think it caused the plague?"

"We're sorry!"

The tide of despair turned to hope.

High above, the Totem Black Snake and the Silver Sky Ruler collided again and again.

The serpent shattered the eagle's Blade Domain and, with a sudden twist, appeared behind it.

With a roar, it bit down on the Silver Sky Ruler's wing, then slammed its massive body downward!

Boom!

The Silver Sky Ruler crashed into the ground, the earth trembling under the impact.

The Totem Black Snake completely dominated the fight. Its colossal tail lashed out, giving the eagle no chance to recover.

Song Jie watched calmly from the fortress wall, knowing this invasion was already over.

The Silver Sky Ruler could not win. Its will to fight had vanished.

The serpent pursued relentlessly, and the eagle fled into the distance—defeated.

Tang Yue's eyes shone as she watched the scene. The fear in her heart had vanished, replaced with pride.

"Isn't the big guy fierce?" Song Jie said, smiling.

"Fierce!" Tang Yue replied, her face glowing with relief and joy.

Her family had protected the Totem Black Snake for generations. To her, it wasn't a beast—it was family.

That bond was something only she could understand.

Song Jie chuckled softly. "Tonight… I'll show you that I'm even fiercer than the big guy."

Tang Yue's face turned crimson. "You're so annoying~!" she said, playfully slapping his chest as her lips curled into a shy smile.
