Chapter 77 - Chapter 76: It’s Finally Time to Hunt!

The next afternoon—

The teachers and students of Pearl Institute had been cleared from the campus. The entire Qing Campus was now set aside for the Team Points Competition.

Song Jie arrived early at the waiting area, where other teams were already gathering. Soon after, Mu Lei and his lackey Mu He showed up, followed by Ding Yumin and Huang Xingli.

Ding Yumin's ankle had recovered after her Healing-type friend treated it.

"Mu Lei, what happened last night? My back and butt are killing me! Ouch…" Huang Xingli muttered, rubbing her sore waist.

Mu Lei raised his hands defensively. "How should I know? Don't pin it on me—I wasn't the one who took you home!"

"Xingli, when I brought you back last night, you fell and dragged me down with you," Ding Yumin explained.

Huang Xingli blinked, suddenly understanding. "Oh… so that's what happened!"

She rubbed her sore backside again and sighed.

Song Jie decided not to dwell on last night. "Alright, everyone, get ready. The competition's about to start."

The night before, the teachers had already sent out the competition rules.

They were simple—

Each person you defeat earns your team one point. When the time runs out, or only one team remains, the match ends. The team with the highest score will take the top five placements. Rankings among those five will depend on individual performance, while the rest will be determined by the teachers' evaluations.

"This competition will be dangerous. Be careful. We'll be scattered when it begins," Mu Lei warned.

Song Jie and Ding Yumin were strong enough to fight alone, but the others needed to be cautious.

"Then let's pick a meeting point," Huang Xingli suggested. "After things calm down, we regroup."

Everyone agreed, deciding to meet at the convenience store near the east plaza.

"You guys move secretly. I'll go alone," Song Jie said.

"Why?" Huang Xingli asked, confused.

Mu Lei sighed. "Because the moment Song Jie shows up, everyone will target him. If we're with him, we'll be targeted too."

Huang Xingli frowned. "Wouldn't that be more dangerous for him?"

Song Jie smiled calmly. "No need to worry. I have two Commander-level summoned beasts."

"C–Commander-level!?" Huang Xingli's jaw nearly dropped.

Song Jie ignored her shock. "We'll use a two-pronged approach—I'll act openly to draw attention, and you all stay hidden to ambush or support when necessary."

Ding Yumin and Mu Lei nodded in agreement. The plan made sense; following him would only slow him down.

On the rostrum, Dean Xiao checked the time. "Alright. Begin the entry process."

Soon, the participants were blindfolded and led into the vast campus.

Outside, a large screen displayed real-time footage of the battlefield. Next to it, a leaderboard showed the current rankings.

At the very top was a team name that made the crowd buzz—

"Come Hit Me."

"Song Jie named his team that? He's way too arrogant!"

"Hmph, let's see how he acts once everyone gangs up on him."

"I heard the other teams already made an alliance. Their first goal is to take Song Jie down!"

The students outside were bursting with excitement and anticipation.

Meanwhile, inside the field, Song Jie stood quietly in his starting position.

"Song Jie, here are your headphones," said the supervising teacher. "You'll hear the broadcast signal. Once it starts, remove your blindfold and begin."

Song Jie nodded silently.

After the teacher left, the surroundings went completely still.

Then—

A mechanical voice echoed through his headphones.

"Team Points Competition—Begin!"

Song Jie tore off his blindfold, a faint grin spreading across his face.

It was hunting time.

Whether one-on-one, two-on-one, or even five-on-one… he doubted anyone here could match him.

If he could rack up over half the total points, even if he got eliminated later, his team would still secure first place.

He turned a corner and spotted a student running toward him.

"Song Jie!?"

The student froze, panic spreading across his face. His luck couldn't have been worse!

"Thanks for the first blood," Song Jie said casually, raising his hand.

In an instant, a Star Path flared beneath his feet, and a Light Burst condensed at his fingertips—

A beam of pure light shot forward like a laser!

The student didn't even have time to react before he was blasted out of the field.

Outside, the broadcast immediately announced:

[Song Jie eliminated Zhang Lei! Team "Come Hit Me" gains one point!]

The leaderboard jumped—his team now sat at the top.

"Already!? It's been less than two minutes!"

Before the audience's excitement could settle, another announcement came—

[Song Jie eliminated Liu Chen! Team "Come Hit Me" gains another point!]

Score: 2

The plaza erupted.

Inside the field, students were already converging toward the center, ready to join forces against him.

The teachers didn't stop them. On the contrary, they wanted to see how far Song Jie could go under pressure.

Meanwhile, Song Jie was already tearing through opponents like a storm.

The Qing Campus was enormous—it took nearly an hour to walk from one end to the other. It would take time before the allied teams could gather.

He didn't care. He simply moved forward toward the center, his expression calm and focused.

After a few minutes, he spotted two students ahead.

They froze when they saw him—Song Jie's faint smile alone made their scalps tingle.

Without a word, both turned and bolted in opposite directions.

"Little Eagle, take that one. I'll get the other," Song Jie commanded.

He gave chase immediately.

No one else had scored in a while—it was clear the other teams were gathering together.

If they thought they could take him down easily, then they were in for a brutal surprise.

This time, Song Jie would show everyone why his name alone could shake the entire academy.
