Kurenai thought carefully about the information she had gathered about Itsuki, and then suddenly realized.
No wonder that after graduating from the Ninja Academy, Itsuki was rejected by his team leader and instead turned to join the Anbu.
No wonder Anko Mitarashi had such a strong connection with him and even insisted on calling herself his older sister.
No wonder Itsuki never worried about draining himself when performing life-saving ninjutsu.
Now, Kurenai fully understood!
"But… is this really okay?" Kurenai asked worriedly.
Itsuki understood what she meant and replied with a calm smile.
"Teacher Kurenai, don't worry about me. I know my limits—and you're someone I can trust."
Even if his simple Wood Release became known throughout the entire shinobi world, it wouldn't really cause him any problems.
At most, people would just sigh that Konoha was lucky, become more vigilant against Itsuki, and then go back to their usual business.
Did they really think everyone could compare to the God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju?
No matter how powerful Wood Release was, it was still just a kekkei genkai.
The shinobi world had never lacked powerful abilities.
The reason Itsuki had hidden it at first was because his ability had only just awakened and he couldn't yet use it to its full potential.
Now that his foundation had grown stronger—even if he couldn't guarantee victory against the Five Kage, retreating unscathed was no problem.
So, there was no longer any need for him to hide it deliberately.
"In that case, I'll accept you as my student!" Kurenai wasn't someone who hesitated. She made her decision quickly.
Since Itsuki didn't want to waste time, Kurenai glanced over at Team 8 and saw they were managing fine without her.
She immediately began teaching Itsuki genjutsu on the spot.
Meanwhile, Hinata and the others trained exactly like in that "future video."
Shino kept harassing Hinata with his Parasitic Insects, while Kiba and Akamaru circled, waiting for an opening.
Hinata's Gentle Fist and Eight Trigrams Palms techniques had clearly improved—her movements no longer fired blanks, though she was still unfamiliar with the rhythm and needed time to refine it.
A morning passed quickly.
Itsuki learned the basic knowledge of genjutsu principles from scratch.
By the afternoon, he was already practicing real genjutsu.
With both his overwhelming natural talent and the Sharingan's dynamic vision and copying ability, learning them was hardly difficult for him.
At first, Kurenai just wanted to test his level, so she taught him a D-rank illusion.
To her shock, Itsuki only needed to watch her perform it once before he mastered it completely.
He immediately turned around and cast it on Hinata and the others.
What left Kurenai both laughing and speechless was that Itsuki went through all the D-rank and C-rank illusions one by one, using them on Hinata, Shino, and Kiba every time.
According to Itsuki, this was to "train their on-the-spot reaction and resistance to illusions."
Even though it constantly interrupted their practice, it was undeniably effective. So Kurenai let him continue.
By the end of the afternoon, Itsuki had mastered not only all of her low-rank illusions but also her B-rank Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death.
Kurenai couldn't help feeling a bit unsatisfied. Teaching such a gifted student gave her a strange pleasure.
It was like playing a fast-leveling game and watching your character soar up the ranks.
"After we dismiss, come home with me." Kurenai licked her red lips and looked at Itsuki with shining eyes, like he was a work of art.
Itsuki froze. What exactly did she mean by that? A man and a woman… alone?
Kurenai quickly explained.
"You already have a solid foundation. All you need is to master some advanced illusions and gradually refine your skills. How far you go depends entirely on you."
"So, come back with me later. I'll give you a scroll containing advanced genjutsu techniques. You can study them."
Itsuki sighed with relief. He had almost thought Kurenai wanted to follow Anko's example and force herself on him.
Still, it was clear that Kurenai felt a deep closeness toward him.
If they weren't teacher and student, maybe she really would have asked him to call her "sister."
When training ended, Kurenai casually dismissed Team 8, then immediately grabbed Itsuki's hand and dragged him off.
"Well… I feel like Teacher Kurenai cares a lot about Itsuki. Now that Itsuki is also her student… she won't abandon us, right?" Kiba muttered anxiously.
"Itsuki won't take much of Teacher Kurenai's time," Shino said coolly. "He's very talented and still in the Anbu. We're her permanent team."
"That's true," Kiba grinned—until Shino added:
"But teachers always prefer outstanding students. Even if she doesn't abandon us, compared to Itsuki, we're far inferior. Teacher Kurenai will definitely favor him. Especially since Itsuki isn't just a student—he's her disciple. That's a big difference."
Kiba's face darkened instantly. "You'd better shut up and keep being a wooden doll!"
Hinata, however, interrupted with determination.
"Compared to Itsuki, anyone would look lacking. We just need to do our best!"
Her voice carried an unfamiliar strength.
After today's training, every strike of hers seemed more focused—like she was finally breathing with purpose.
Her temperament was changing. At least on the outside, she no longer looked timid.
"H-Hinata, you…" Kiba started, but then sighed and waved his hand. "Forget it, that's enough for today. See you tomorrow."
Hinata smiled softly, thanking both teammates sincerely for their help.
As for Itsuki, he thought he'd just pick up the scroll and leave—but instead, Kurenai forced him to stay.
"You'll be alone if you go back, right? Why not stay here for dinner tonight?"
She pushed him down onto her sofa.
"Don't look at the scroll for now. Relax, watch some TV. Remember to balance work and rest."
Itsuki wanted to say he wouldn't actually be alone if he went home.
But really—how could Tenzo compare to sitting here, with Kurenai cooking for him?
A beautiful woman preparing dinner for you… that's something most men only dream of. Why refuse?
Kurenai usually cooked for herself, so she had plenty of ingredients at home. No need to go shopping.
"By the way, Teacher Kurenai, you said earlier you wanted me to help you with something. What is it?" Itsuki asked as he wandered into the kitchen to help, pretending he was bored.
Kurenai hesitated, then spoke softly.
"I once had a student…" She began talking about Kurama Yakumo.
Just as Itsuki expected, she wanted him to see if he could help Yakumo's frail body.
At first, Kurenai hadn't held much hope—she only thought she'd try her luck.
But now that she knew Itsuki truly possessed Wood Release, her expectations rose, though she didn't dare bring it up directly.
If Itsuki hadn't asked, she probably would still be struggling over whether to tell him.
"Teacher Kurenai's business is my business. I'll do my best!" Itsuki thumped his chest. "From your description, it doesn't sound too serious. But I'll need to see Yakumo in person to be sure."
"Just try your best." Kurenai reached out, gently patting his head.
"But don't ever push yourself too far. I don't want to see you hurt because of someone else—even if that person is my disciple."
