Chapter 62 - Chapter 61: Observation Haki and Wanda and Pietro!

This anger didn't come from Steve's words, but from Alexander Pierce, the Secretary-General of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If it weren't for him, S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't have fallen this far.

She wanted Pierce to witness the complete failure of his plan with his own eyes—then die in despair.

After hearing what Daoxier said, Kai's fingertips flashed, instantly piercing through the last Hydra agent in front of him.

"Alright, but don't forget to deposit the reimbursement into my account. After tax, remember!"

As he spoke, Kai flashed toward the external chip connection of the aerospace mothership.

He opened the chip box, pulled out the Hydra chip, and inserted the one Hill had prepared earlier.

After completing all this, Kai reappeared on the mothership and helped the others eliminate the remaining Hydra soldiers.

Watching the mothership rise higher and higher, he said to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents nearby.

"There are fighter jets over there—take them and get down immediately! This mothership is about to blow!"

"Yes, sir!"

The surviving S.H.I.E.L.D. members immediately followed Kai's orders.

At the same time, Tony Stark had already cleared out Hydra operatives on the second helicarrier and replaced its chip.

The Command Room

Inside the broadcast room, seeing the chips of two motherships replaced, Maria Hill began taking over the system.

She spoke through Kai's earpiece, "Kai, I'll take your package price—ten million for all three helicarriers. The funds will be wired soon."

"I can even add another five million—if you capture Pierce and make him watch Hydra's downfall and the total failure of Project Insight."

Kai flashed to the third aerospace mothership. Looking down at the massive ship rising hundreds of meters, he replaced the final chip without hesitation.

Hearing Hill's offer, his eyes lit up.

"No problem. Once the money's in, Hydra will be history."

As soon as he finished speaking, Kai disappeared from the helicarrier.

Tony Stark, having replaced the second carrier's chip, heard the anger in Hill's voice.

"So, moral of the story—don't piss off a woman, especially one with clearance codes. By the way, what's Steve doing?"

"Captain Rogers is fighting Bucky Barnes," said Sam Wilson, answering through comms while exchanging fire with Hydra soldiers on the ground.

"Huh?"

Hearing that, Tony raised an eyebrow.

"Steve fighting his best buddy from seventy years ago? Yeah, I'm not missing that soap opera."

He immediately controlled his armor and flew toward the ground.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

The sound of shattering glass echoed. In the next second, Kai appeared before everyone.

As he arrived, one of the council's "old women" moved in sync with him, helping Kai eliminate Pierce's guards in an instant.

She pressed her temple, removed her holographic disguise—revealing Natasha Romanoff underneath.

"Leave him to me. He's worth five million dollars now."

Grabbing Pierce by the collar, Kai prepared to teleport.

"Wait, Kai!"

Natasha stepped forward. "Steve said we have to bring down S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra together. We need to make everything public."

She pointed at the terminal. "That means a retinal scan authorization."

Natasha quickly got to work.

Soon, the words 'Restricted Access' appeared in the holographic display.

Pierce smiled darkly.

"To unlock these files, you'll need two A-level authorizations."

Natasha looked outside.

"Hill, hold on—we need Pierce's scan. Give me a few minutes."

"No problem," Hill replied coldly through the comms. "Kai, what's next on your plan?"

"You'll see soon enough."

Grabbing Pierce tighter, Kai smirked.

A helicopter landed nearby. Nick Fury stepped out, his left arm still in a sling but his presence as commanding as ever.

Seeing Fury, Pierce sneered.

"Did you get the flowers I sent you?"

"Kai, put him down," Fury ordered.

Kai let go casually. Pierce stumbled to the ground.

Fury stepped forward.

"Why did you make me Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

"Because you're the kindest ruthless man I know," Pierce replied smoothly. "I was trying to protect humanity!"

"Really?" Fury's voice dropped cold.

Pierce's eyes darkened. "Chaos, war—they're inevitable! Remember Bogota, Colombia? You didn't hesitate then. Two million dead, seven billion saved. Worth it, wasn't it?"

"I don't think so," Fury snapped, grabbing him by the arm and dragging him to the scanner.

With both retinal scans completed, the encrypted data unlocked.

"Kai, he's all yours," Natasha said as she made the data public.

Kai appeared beside Pierce, ignoring Fury's expression—and vanished with his target.

The Fall of Hydra

The battle inside S.H.I.E.L.D. was at its peak.

Kai held Pierce by the collar, his fingers glowing as he annihilated Hydra agents one after another.

"Marvelous," one agent gasped.

"Flash! Well done!"

"For S.H.I.E.L.D.!!!"

Their cheers echoed through the ruins.

Kai smirked at Pierce.

"Hear that? Those cheers belong to the victors. They should've been yours, Hydra."

He cracked the neck of a charging soldier effortlessly.

"You worked in the shadows for decades, and I nearly gave you your wish," Kai said darkly. "But the ending? So damn disappointing."

He raised his hand—countless photons burst out, obliterating the Hydra reinforcements in a flash of light.

"Oh my—was that too much? Your loyal men just went pop!"

Pierce struggled, choking from Kai's grip. "You damn—"

"Shh," Kai interrupted. "The fun's just getting started."

He grabbed Pierce and shot into the sky.

The three helicarriers hovered a few hundred meters above.

"This is your dream, right?" Kai said, his tone mocking. "Hill, start the show!"

At his command, the weapon systems of the three motherships locked onto each other.

Pierce panicked. "What did you do?"

"Oh, right—I replaced your Zola Algorithm chips. Project Insight's targets are gone."

"What?! No! F**K"

Before he could finish, the carriers opened fire.

Explosions tore through the sky. The shockwave scorched Pierce's face as his dream burned before him.

"No!!!"

Watching the three carriers crash and explode, Pierce's face twisted with despair.

"Hydra… long live… Hydra…" he muttered in delirium.

Kai held out his hand—the destroyed Insight chips materialized in his palm.

Pierce lunged at them desperately, but Kai crushed them with a crack.

"Now all your dreams are gone," Kai said softly. "But you still have some use."

He let go.

Pierce fell, screaming, vanishing into the smoke below.

Kai smirked and asked through his headset, "So, Hill—did you enjoy the show?"

"Honestly," Hill exhaled, "I felt like a villain for a second. Thank you, Kai. The money's on its way."

On her screen, the three burning carriers fell like meteors, crushing the S.H.I.E.L.D. base below.

Aftermath

Seeing the destruction, Tony Stark stopped watching Steve and Bucky's fight and immediately dove into rescue mode.

"Damn it," he muttered, blasting through debris to pull survivors out.

Kai joined him, flashing through the ruins and using the Reality Gem to transmute rubble into harmless petals.

"Tony, next time, listen when I say I should've just destroyed them all!"

"Yeah, yeah! There are still seven people on the 22nd floor!" Tony replied, scanning through his HUD.

"Got it!"

Kai teleported up, transforming collapsing rubble into petals. "What are you standing there for? Move!"

He rescued the trapped agents, but then noticed a faint crack on his Reality Gem ring.

"Damn it. So much for Dark Elf craftsmanship. No wonder Malekith wanted to absorb the Aether himself."

He stopped using the Gem and instead shattered the debris manually with his glowing fingers.

"Tony, you're good with nanotech, right?"

"Of course. Why?" Tony flew out holding two agents. "And what the hell was that trick? Turning concrete into petals? Are you even human?"

Kai shrugged. "Let's just say I've got a few secrets left. Anyway, I'll need a new ring soon."

Tony raised an eyebrow. "That thing's the source, huh? Yeah, that's not from Pandora."

Kai just smiled, ignoring the remark. "Where's Steve?"

Tony sighed. "Hill, Natasha, and Sam flew off with Fury. Steve's still busy playing punch-tag with his BFF."

He glanced around the destruction. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is toast—at least officially."

"The Stark Industries rescue team's inbound," Tony added.

Then he smirked. "You know, the S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists aren't half bad. Maybe I should recruit a few."

Kai rolled his eyes. "That's your problem, boss. I'm just a poor overworked employee."

Tony scoffed. "A raise? Not a chance."

"Tsk. Three-minute Grandet."

"FUXX, I told you that was tabloid nonsense!"

"Oh please," Kai teased. "Maybe the capitalist overlord just can't last three minutes."

"FUXX you, Kai!"

Meanwhile

"Stop following me!"

Bucky shouted, smashing Steve Rogers to the ground again and again.

"I'm not your damn friend!"

Bloodied and bruised, Steve pushed himself up, gasping. "You were brainwashed, Bucky. This isn't you. No matter what happens—I'm with you till the end."

"Who the hell wants that?!"

Bucky punched him hard, then stopped, breathing heavily. He hesitated, then turned away.

"Final warning. Don't follow me."

He disappeared into the woods.

"Cough—cough—" Steve groaned, getting up.

Sam Wilson ran over from the helicopter. "Cap! You look worse than me."

Nick Fury followed, his arm still bandaged. "Hydra's finished, Rogers. You'll find him when the time comes."

Steve said nothing—just stared into the trees.

The Fallout

The S.H.I.E.L.D. War sent shockwaves worldwide.

Hydra members hidden in government ranks were exposed. Agents scattered, and the remains of S.H.I.E.L.D. were absorbed by the U.S. Defense Department.

Even Natasha faced a congressional hearing.

Three days later, at Coulson Base, Kai sat alone, sipping hot tea while watching the televised hearing.

Natasha stood before the Defense Secretary.

"Where's Steve Rogers?" he demanded.

"I don't know," Natasha replied calmly. "But the wreckage in the Potomac says enough."

"You destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Romanoff," another senator snapped. "You deserve prison."

Natasha smirked. "No, you won't imprison me—or Steve. Just like you pardoned Tony and Kai. Because you need us."

She stood, facing them squarely. "The world's fragile. Maybe we broke S.H.I.E.L.D., but someone has to protect what's left."

"If you want to arrest me, you know where to find me."

She walked out, leaving the room silent.

Kai turned off the TV, smiling faintly.

The system voice chimed in:

Kai activated his new Observation Haki—his senses exploded open. He could hear every vibration, every heartbeat, even the fluttering of hummingbird wings outside.

He smiled. "Nice."

Then he noticed the crack in his Reality Gem ring again. "Guess I'll need Tony to build a nano version soon."

He remembered Hill mentioning a vibranium stash. "Perfect."

Sokovia — Hydra Base

At the same time, Baron Strucker stood before the glowing Mind Scepter.

"Hydra, S.H.I.E.L.D.… all the same," he sneered. "But what we have—they could never imagine."

Behind him, the scientist trembled. "The twins are stable, sir, but the other subjects—"

"Dead subjects are useless. Bury them," Strucker interrupted. "The twins are our future."

He looked at the scepter, eyes burning. "Wanda and Pietro Maximoff… our greatest weapons."

New York — Former S.H.I.E.L.D. Base

As the National Guard packed up the remnants, Kai stood beside Hill.

"Found a new employer?" he asked.

Hill shook her head. "Fury still needs me. But S.H.I.E.L.D. is gone—at least on the surface. The world's not safe, Kai."

She handed him a small metal fragment. "The vibranium you wanted."

Kai pocketed it. "Thanks. Anything else I can do?"

"Coulson," Hill said firmly. "He's been through hell. If he reaches out, help him."

"No problem," Kai nodded. "I'll wait for him at the Tusten Island base for half a month."

Hill smiled faintly, then drove off.

Kai looked down at the vibranium, activated the Reality Gem, and reshaped it into a new ring.

Half a Month Later

Kai kept his promise, living alone at the secret base, spending his days drinking tea and playing PSP.

On the final day, a car pulled up.

"Hey, Kai!"

Skye walked in with a smile, grabbing a soda from the fridge.

"Colson told you I was here?" Kai asked.

"Yeah," Skye replied, sitting down. "A lot's changed. Coulson's quieter now. Ward turned out Hydra—nearly killed Fitz and Simmons. Fitz's brain's still damaged."

She sighed. "Fury asked Coulson to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. We're all back together… kind of."

She handed Kai a folder. "Coulson wanted you to have this. The base—he's transferring ownership to you."

Kai skimmed it. "A two-thousand-acre base? That's... huge."

Skye smiled. "He said you'd make good use of it. Maybe build a manor?"

Kai grinned. "No manor needs that much land."

They hugged goodbye.

"See you soon, Kai," Skye said softly before leaving.

Kai returned to his office and called Tony Stark.

"Boss, know any good construction companies? Cheap but good?"

Tony raised a brow over the line. "Why?"

"Got myself some land. Might build something nice."

After hearing the story, Tony laughed. "Damn, you lucky bastard. Alright, come by tomorrow—I'll set you up. You just pay."

"How much?"

"At least ten million to start."

Tony hung up before Kai could protest.

"...Three-minute capitalist," Kai muttered.

Next Day — Stark Industries

Kai arrived, sipping tea and reading the paper when Tony burst in.

"Knew you'd be slacking again," Tony said, tossing two folders on the desk.

"Jarvis designed some manor styles—Kai-type. Pick one."

Kai flipped through until he saw the garden manor. Elegant. Majestic. Suzhou-like architecture with pavilions, bridges, and fountains.

"That's it," he said instantly.

Tony grinned. "Thought so. It's gorgeous. Thirty million dollars. Once you pay, construction starts."

"Thirty mil?!" Kai glared. "Why not just rob me?"

Tony smirked. "Too slow. But tell you what—handle this next mission, I'll give you 50% off."

He tossed another folder over.

"There's a frozen guy in there. Take him out."

Kai sighed. "So that's the real reason, huh?"

Tony nodded. "Ever since S.H.I.E.L.D. fell, powered people think they can do whatever they want. Someone's gotta keep them in line."

He muttered under his breath, "FUXX, why can't any of them be more like Clark Kent?"
