[Blowout Sale! Teachers at Massive Discounts!]
[Use this coupon to receive a discount of up to 60%. All teachers obtained within the corresponding price tier will be among the very best available.]
[How to use: Inject the Achievement Points required to summon a teacher into the coupon. The system will match you with the corresponding discount based on the amount invested. Before the discount, the maximum price is no more than 50,000 Achievement Points, and the teacher's rank cannot exceed Demigod.]
[Note: Divine beings are extremely special existences. The system has detected that Demigod-level imprints are exceedingly rare, and the ones that do exist are of poor quality. The system will therefore activate cross-world searches in order to provide the host with the best possible teaching environment.]
Tom quickly finished reading the description of the discount coupon, and his expression became extremely complicated.
The sales pitch at the beginning was almost impossible to take seriously.
It sounded exactly like the kind of language supermarkets used when they were running late-night discounts.
The gacha itself looked rather ridiculous, completely at odds with the grandeur one would expect at this level.
Luckily, in terms of practical value, it was actually pretty damn good. And the system had revealed quite a lot of information in the process, especially about an entirely new rank.
The normal Wizard tiers were: Elite → Century King → Legend → Wizard King → God of Magic.
But now, a hidden tier had appeared: Demigod!
Presumably, this was one of the lowest tiers among divine beings. In other words, it was likely the lowest god-level rank.
There was another particularly important piece of information.
According to the system's standards, Demigods had indeed appeared in this world before. The problem was that they were apparently the absolute bottom of the barrel, so worthless that they didn't even qualify to enter his teacher database.
The system would have to search other worlds instead.
That alone showed just how little he had managed to develop the system so far.
A cross-world teacher had never appeared before.
"Hmm..."
Tom quietly looked at his panel. He currently had 14,527 Achievement Points.
According to the system's rules, the weakest Wizard King costs 10,000 Achievement Points, while the lowest level of God of Magic (Demigod) costs 30,000.
But with the maximum 60% discount, Tom could potentially summon a teacher worth more than 36,000 Achievement Points at full price. That still left him quite a ways short of the 50,000-point limit, which was the maximum amount the coupon could accept and would allow him to summon one of the strongest Demigods.
Should he use the coupon now, or save up for a while longer and scrape together the remaining points to maximize the benefits?
Tom hesitated for only a moment before making up his mind.
He would use it now.
With how stingy the system was, and with no other obvious way for him to earn a huge number of points, it would probably take two or three years before he could afford a 50,000-point Demigod teacher, even with the 60% discount.
And who knew what might happen to the world by then?
He needed to increase his immediate combat power. At the very least, he wanted to expand the range of tools at his disposal.
Thirty thousand-plus Achievement Points was already an impressive amount.
Once he'd made up his mind, Tom decided to test the waters. He cautiously entered 500 Achievement Points into the discount coupon.
The writing on the coupon changed.
The discount dropped from 60% to 10%, while the summoning rank became "Elite."
If he hadn't known that he could get his Achievement Points back if he wasn't satisfied, he never would have dared experiment like this.
He then increased the amount to 800 points.
The summoning rank changed to "Century King," while the discount became 20%.
He kept increasing the amount.
Only when he had put in 3,500 Achievement Points did the discount rise to 30%, and the summoning rank changed again, becoming "Legend."
Tom found the whole thing rather fascinating. He could clearly see exactly what level of character each amount of investment corresponded to.
Once he passed 6,000 points, the discount increased to 40%, and the summoning rank became "Wizard King."
He kept increasing the amount.
Once his Achievement Points surpassed 8,000, the summoning rank remained "Wizard King," but an additional description appeared in parentheses: Wizard King (Peak)
When the amount passed 10,000 points, the discount jumped to 50%, and the summoning rank changed to "Fake God (Impostor)."
Fake? Impostor?
Tom fell into thought.
"If 10,000 to 20,000 points corresponds to Fake Gods, ones that don't even possess incomplete divine authority, then do I have enough Achievement Points to summon a Demigod?"
Tom suddenly felt a little nervous.
If he couldn't summon a Demigod, there was no way he was going to use the coupon now.
He continued feeding Achievement Points into it.
Thankfully, once the amount surpassed 14,000, the discount finally changed again, rising to 60%, while the summoning rank changed to "Demigod."
At 35,000 points, the rank hit the Demigod threshold. Even if he maxed out the discount at 50,000 points, the result would still be a Demigod.
So Tom dumped the remaining 527 Achievement Points he had into the coupon.
At this point, there was no reason not to use it. Even if he spent everything now, it wasn't a loss. At the very least, it would raise the minimum power level of the teacher he summoned.
The moment he decided to use the coupon, the entire thing erupted into brilliant blue flames, burning away into nothingness.
At the same time, he sent a message to everyone in the study space.
This had become a tradition. Whenever a new member appeared, everyone would gather together to welcome them.
One after another, crisp popping sounds rang out beside Tom.
Morgan arrived first, followed by Ravenclaw and then Andros, the permanent resident of the study space. Even after being revived, he still preferred to live here.
Jeanne and Grindelwald appeared shortly afterward.
"Tom, you summoned another new teacher?" Morgan asked, her face lighting up with excitement. "Think there's any chance you managed to summon Merlin this time? Kekeke~If you did, the two of us could team up and beat the hell out of him. We could make him beg for death and beg for life."
Tom rolled his eyes. "Give it up. Summoning a teacher costs me a fortune, you know? And this time, the price is several times higher than what I paid to summon you. We're talking about a genuine divine being."
Morgan was a little disappointed to hear that Merlin wasn't going to appear.
But the moment she heard that the new teacher was a divine, that disappointment vanished without a trace.
Everyone else looked equally expectant.
They had long since stopped doubting the existence of gods. But none of them had ever actually seen one with their own eyes, so naturally, they were incredibly curious.
Two minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
Tom was starting to get puzzled.
Why was this teacher summon taking so long?
He was just beginning to wonder whether the system had scammed him out of all his Achievement Points when a deafening thunderclap suddenly shook the heavens.
Then... the sky split open.
