The air inside the villa's command center had grown thin and heavy.
Kai stood in the center of the room, his eyes darting across the flickering monitors.
The realization that Xavier Reynolds was not following any traditional rules of engagement had finally shattered Kai's sense of security.
He turned to his lead guards, his face pale and his voice sharp with a desperation he could no longer conceal.
"Pack everything we can carry within the next five minutes!" Kai barked, his eyes wide and frantic.
"We must abandon this island immediately. That bastard Xavier is not acting according to the script I wrote for this day. I will not allow myself to be captured or slaughtered like an animal while Adam Reynolds is still drawing breath. We are leaving now!"
His men, seasoned by years of following his ruthless commands, responded with a chorus of "Yes, boss."
