Adam looked at Naya, his expression softening but remaining firm.
He understood the fire in her eyes; he had seen that same desperate need to act in his own reflection many times.
However, as a leader and a husband, he had to be the voice of reason here, so he shifted slightly on the bed, his voice low but carrying an undeniable authority.
"Naya, you cannot come along," Adam said, his tone final.
"I am willing to believe you are strong. I am even willing to believe that you have trained hard. But in the reality of this mission, that doesn't change the math. You might be able to bring down one or two Betas, but Kai isn't traveling with a small escort."
"He probably has a small army. If you come, you might successfully help us for a moment, only to get captured yourself."
