Drake's offer caused the tavern to empty almost immediately. They rushed home to write a letter to Bren. Drake had no idea that everyone thought Bren had been dead. He wondered what had happened for him to end up in the ordinary world.
Waiting for the letters to be written by the townsfolk, Drake sat at a table in the tavern. Renn and Ruby were on his shoulder in their small beast forms while Chad and Mike sat on either side of him.
Across from Drake sat his father, with Chad's father in front of Chad, and Mike's father in front of Mike as they waited for the server to come take their order.
When she finally did, after the server took their order, she came back and set the steins on the table. Each of them had a stein in front of them, filled with ale. There was a bowl of bread and soft cheese in the middle of the table to snack on while they drank their ale.
