"What? When?" I tumbled out in a quick succession, the words escaping before I could rein them in. My heart thumped hard in my chest, loud enough that I was sure he could hear it.
He sighed, leaning back slightly. "A few days ago."
My brow furrowed as I processed that. "How reliable is the news?"
He nodded once. "Very reliable." A faint smirk tugged at his lips, the kind that suggested confidence in the information he had.
"Isn't it said that the government was considering a housing scheme on that vast land?" I pressed. "How did it change all of a sudden?"
"Quite unclear," he replied. "It seems the move had been manipulated by bigger forces."
I nodded slightly. "That should be the only reason." I smirked with a helpless sigh.
I couldn't think of any other reason.
