Another half an hour passed.
At the top of a cylindrical structure, Gran stood quietly, with Merus beside him.
"Not going to keep checking the prisoners?" Merus asked.
"The entire planet is used to detain cosmic criminals," Gran replied.
"How could I possibly look through all of them?"
He swept his gaze across the surroundings.
All around them stood countless cylindrical buildings, packed so densely it was almost overwhelming to look at.
Just how many cosmic criminals were being held here?
Then again
The universe was vast beyond measure. Using just a single planet to imprison criminals from across the universe actually meant the total number wasn't that high after all.
"So? What do you think after seeing it all?" Merus chuckled.
"Not bad," Gran said, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.
"Besides Moro, there were quite a few interesting characters."
"Otherwise, what did you expect?" Merus said calmly, clasping his hands behind his back as he looked up at the sky.
"You could say most of Universe Seven's high-end combat power is locked up here. Of course it's interesting."
Neither of them spoke after that, and the surroundings quickly fell silent.
After a while
"Alright, it's time for me to head back."
Gran patted Merus on the shoulder.
"I'll leave those Saiyans to you."
Merus withdrew his gaze.
"Don't worry. This isn't just helping you—it's helping myself as well."
"That's good to hear."
Gran smiled.
"And you can rest easy too. I'll remember my promise."
With that, Gran prepared to use Instant Transmission to leave.
Suddenly
"Gran, you're a very interesting candidate God of Destruction. I'm really glad I got to know you."
Merus spoke with an unusually serious expression.
Gran froze for a moment, then laughed.
"I'm glad I got to know you too. Goodbye."
With a whoosh, he vanished without a trace.
Merus stared at the spot where Gran had disappeared for a long time, before the corner of his mouth slowly curled upward.
To gain recognition—from a candidate God of Destruction, no less.
And even receive a promise.
How interesting.
...
At the same time, inside the Grand Zeno's Palace.
"Grand Priest, that kid Gran is really stirring Merus up~"
"..."
"Shouldn't you find a chance to beat Gran up a little?"
"No need," the Grand Priest replied calmly.
"This is Merus's own choice. I won't interfere with any of his decisions."
...
On a planet not far from the Galactic Patrol Headquarters.
The environment here was exceptionally pleasant. Along a resort-style beach stood palm trees, lounge chairs, parasols, and even a beach volleyball court…
Many beings from across the universe were vacationing here, enjoying the fully equipped facilities and beautiful scenery.
"Jaco, have you gathered any good material for a novel lately?"
A mature woman with long blonde hair lounged on a beach chair, looking toward Jaco, who was playing beach volleyball.
"Your sci-fi novels sell incredibly well," she continued lazily,
"but the one based on me flopped completely."
Jaco—who looked like an Ultraman knockoff—turned his head and snapped irritably,
"Tights, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?!"
The mature woman he was glaring at was Tights—the eldest daughter of Capsule Corporation's chairman, and Bulma's older sister.
Years ago, when she had been harassed by thugs, it was Jaco who had appeared and saved her. From then on, the two became close friends.
To collect sci-fi material, Tights followed Jaco off Earth, eventually becoming a popular author.
Unfortunately, the one novel she wrote based on Galactic Patrolman Jaco himself turned out to be wildly unpopular.
"How is that my fault?" Tights said innocently.
"I used every writing technique I know. If the prototype isn't popular, what can I do?"
She sat up on her beach chair and picked up a glass of orange juice from the small round table beside her, taking a sip.
"That's impossible!" Jaco fumed.
"I'm the most outstanding Galactic Patrolman there is! How could I not be popular?! You're just talking nonsense!"
Furious, Jaco stopped playing volleyball and ran over to argue with her.
Suddenly
A white point of light appeared in the sky.
As it emerged, the entire planet began to tremble under the influence of a terrifying power.
The vacationing aliens were thrown into panic.
"What's happening?!"
"Jaco, what's going on?!" Tights' face turned pale as she quickly stood up.
"A powerful being is descending on this planet!" Jaco said anxiously.
He hurriedly pulled out his scouter.
This scouter could detect battle power up to two million.
"Well? How strong is whoever's coming?" Tights urged.
"Stop rushing me—I'm checking!"
Jaco activated the scouter. Instantly, readings appeared.
"Beep—500,000 battle power!"
"Beep—800,000 battle power!"
...
"Beep—2,000,000 battle power!"
Seeing this, Jaco blurted out,
"How is this possible?!"
The next second
Bang!
The scouter in Jaco's hand exploded.
"Gulp…"
Tights swallowed hard.
She understood perfectly what that meant.
The newcomer's power exceeded two million.
"Didn't you say no one would dare cause trouble this close to the Galactic Patrol?" Tights said in panic.
"How would I know?!" Jaco shouted.
"With power like that, it's completely beyond what I can handle!"
"Then what do we do now?!"
"We don't know if they're friend or foe. We run first!"
"I'll have Paragus send someone to deal with this guy!"
Paragus had joined the Galactic Patrol within the last two years, and Jaco knew exactly how terrifying his growth had been.
Though Paragus's surface battle power was only 1.8 million, if he were a high-ranking Saiyan and transformed into a Great Ape, his power would reach 18 million!
Jaco was confident Paragus could handle whoever had arrived.
"Move, now!"
Jaco threw out a Capsule Corporation capsule that Tights had given him, grabbed her arm, and prepared to flee aboard their spaceship.
Suddenly
The white point in the sky plummeted downward at an astonishing speed.
Before Jaco could even start the ship's engine, the mysterious powerhouse landed directly on the beach.
"It's over…"
Both Jaco and Tights cried out inside the ship.
And then
"Sister!!"
A clear, bright female voice echoed across the beach.
Tights couldn't quite process what was said—but the moment she locked eyes with the newcomer, her pupils shrank violently.
"Bulma!"
