Before the era of god-tier battles arrived, S-rank ninjutsu represented the absolute pinnacle of power—and the most difficult techniques to master. Anything stronger was no longer considered ninjutsu, but forbidden techniques.
And forbidden techniques, more often than not, were methods of trading one life for another. Under normal circumstances, anyone with a functioning brain wouldn't touch them.
That was precisely why, upon hearing they had a chance to obtain an S-rank ninjutsu, all three kids—Naruto included—were instantly fired up.
"Alright! I'm definitely getting that S-rank technique!"
Naruto clenched his fist and shouted excitedly.
Sasuke, however, wore a look of utter disdain.
"With you, dead last? Don't make me laugh."
"Bastard, Sasuke! I won't lose to you!" Naruto snapped back.
Neji, on the other hand, hesitated. After a moment of silence, he asked,
"Rokuro—"
"Just call me Brother Rokuro," Rokuro interrupted with a grin. "I'm only four or five years older than you. Calling me 'teacher' makes me sound ancient."
"…Alright. Brother Rokuro. Our Hyūga clan isn't good at elemental ninjutsu. If the S-rank technique you're teaching involves chakra attributes, then I'm afraid—"
Rokuro smiled faintly.
"I'm very close with your father, and I've studied the Hyūga clan's Gentle Fist. In my view, no one in Konoha surpasses the Hyūga when it comes to fine chakra control—especially when paired with the Byakugan. You can condense chakra into needle-thin strands. Only masters of chakra shape transformation can pull that off."
"As for 'not being good at elemental ninjutsu'—that's a false premise. With your level of chakra control, learning elemental techniques wouldn't be difficult at all. It's just that Gentle Fist happens to suit you better. But don't worry—the S-rank technique I'm teaching doesn't involve chakra attributes at all."
To further ignite their enthusiasm, Rokuro raised his right hand.
A seven-colored chakra cloak surged around his body. It resembled Naruto's tailed-beast cloak, yet it was far calmer—almost like an actual garment.
As Rokuro lifted his arm, three chakra hands emerged from the cloak around his right arm. They stretched outward, converged at his palm, and began rubbing together.
The three kids leaned in, eyes wide.
Under the friction of the chakra hands, a rapidly spinning chakra sphere formed. Its rotation accelerated faster and faster until a violent wind erupted, whipping their hair wildly and forcing them to lean back under the pressure.
"See?" Rokuro said calmly. "This is pure chakra, with no attribute added. What you're seeing now is chakra shape transformation. At this level, it already counts as an A-rank technique—strong enough to split mountains and shatter stone. Even a jōnin without powerful defensive ninjutsu would die if hit head-on."
"But what I'm teaching you isn't A-rank—it's S-rank. Which means, on top of shape transformation, you also add nature transformation."
The three chakra hands sped up even further. Suddenly, three razor-sharp chakra blades emerged from the spinning sphere, rotating together at terrifying speed.
"This technique is called—Rasenshuriken. As for its power…"
Rokuro turned toward the distant forest and flicked his wrist.
Bzzzz
Amid shrill air-tearing screams, the Rasenshuriken flew forward. It hadn't truly left his control—one chakra hand still gripped it, continuously supplying chakra.
Even though Rokuro possessed the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, the chakra he used was still ordinary chakra—not inherently superior to others'.
To truly evolve the Rasenshuriken required senjutsu chakra at the very least—something Rokuro couldn't yet wield. So he used this workaround instead.
The Rasenshuriken flew roughly twenty meters before striking a massive tree thick enough to take three people to encircle.
The tree was sliced cleanly in half—then the Rasenshuriken detonated.
The explosion transformed into an area-of-effect cutting field, dozens of meters wide. Countless razor-sharp chakra blades shredded everything within the field thousands of times over.
A few seconds later, as the technique dissipated, a crater dozens of meters across and seven to eight meters deep remained.
Naruto, Neji, and Sasuke stood frozen—then rushed into the crater to experience the destruction up close.
"Well?" Rokuro asked. "Pretty decent, right?"
"So strong! Brother Rokuro, I want to learn this!" Naruto shouted immediately.
Neji was equally thrilled. The Hyūga did have ranged techniques like Eight Trigrams Air Palm, but their power couldn't even compare.
What truly excited Neji was this—the technique didn't require chakra attributes. It only demanded compressing chakra thinner and finer than paper, shaping it into blades. That was exactly the Hyūga clan's forte.
Among the three, only Sasuke's reaction was relatively restrained—though only by comparison.
As a diehard Uchiha, Sasuke valued dōjutsu above all else. But he also placed great importance on elemental ninjutsu.
Because he had witnessed his father being driven to death, Sasuke trained even harder than in the original timeline. Under Mikoto Uchiha's guidance, he already knew he possessed Fire and Lightning chakra affinities.
And the Rasenshuriken could incorporate attributes—just like Naruto's later multi-colored version used against Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
An attribute-infused Rasenshuriken would only be more terrifying.
Sasuke had already imagined Fire Release Rasenshuriken and Lightning Release Rasenshuriken.
He wanted this technique—desperately. He needed power. Only then could he defeat Rokuro… and avenge his father.
"Alright," Rokuro said. "You've seen its power. Now we begin. Naruto versus the two of you. Winner takes it."
"I'll personally teach the winner, hand-in-hand. The loser doesn't need to despair—you can challenge again in the future. If the winner changes, I'll teach again. But the loser will lose the privilege of direct instruction."
"Don't think winning once is enough. S-rank ninjutsu isn't something you master just by knowing the method."
Rokuro raised his right index finger. Chakra flowed out, forming letters in midair:
E → D → C → B → A → S
"Ninjutsu ranks primarily reflect training difficulty. E-rank is the easiest—what you learn in the Academy. S-rank is the hardest—even many jōnin never master one."
"These ranks also roughly correspond to power. The harder a technique is, the stronger it usually is."
"If a technique is hard to learn but weak, then its design itself is flawed."
"In short—don't underestimate this match."
Neji raised his hand.
"Brother Rokuro… we understand all that. But Naruto fighting two of us—are you sure that's fair?"
Rokuro chuckled.
"You think it's unfair to Naruto? Or do you think you're so strong he's no match for you?"
Neji had always been a prodigy. And in this world, his father was still alive—making him even more proud, even arrogant.
As for Sasuke—one of the original story's two biggest 'cool guys'—he had never taken Naruto seriously.
Now Rokuro wanted them to fight Naruto together? It sounded like a joke.
Rokuro turned to Naruto.
"What about you? Think it's unfair?"
"No," Naruto said firmly. "I think it's very fair. If it were one-on-one, that'd actually be unfair to them."
Neji and Sasuke didn't understand. Rokuro did.
"Good. Then let's begin."
Neji glanced at Sasuke. Seeing no intention to move, he assumed the Gentle Fist stance and charged straight at Naruto.
In that instant, Rokuro noticed chakra concentrating evenly around Neji's feet—Body Flicker Technique.
"Excellent chakra distribution," Rokuro murmured. "Above-average Body Flicker. Looks like Hizashi trained him well."
To Sasuke, Neji vanished instantly.
His eyes widened in shock—only now realizing Neji hadn't been serious earlier.
"Damn it… is he really that strong?"
Sasuke activated his single-tomoe Sharingan at the cost of chakra—finally tracking Neji's movements.
But what followed made him question reality itself.
Naruto not only dodged Neji's lightning-fast strike with ease—he countered at an even greater speed.
Boom!
Naruto slipped past Neji's attack and slammed an elbow into his back. Neji blocked just in time—elbow against elbow.
The collision detonated like an air cannon.
The ground cracked beneath them. The shockwave blasted outward, whipping Sasuke's hair back and forcing him to retreat a step.
"How is this possible?!" Sasuke shouted.
Neji's expression changed instantly. He abandoned all arrogance, channeling chakra into his palms and unleashing true Hyūga Gentle Fist.
Naruto's taijutsu fundamentals were awful—unstructured, reactive, sloppy. He was quickly driven backward.
But with the Nine-Tails' chakra boosting his raw strength and speed, he still managed to hold on.
Neji grew increasingly confident.
Palms, fists, fingers—his movements flowed like blossoms in the wind.
In pure taijutsu variation, the Hyūga clan stood unrivaled.
With every exchange, Neji injected thin strands of chakra—needle-like—into Naruto's body, causing internal damage.
That chakra… terrifyingly strong, Neji thought. Possibly already rivaling Father's. But his control is awful. He doesn't know how to use it.
A few more strikes, and Gentle Fist will fully erupt. He'll lose for sure.
Victory, an S-rank technique, and Rokuro's personal instruction—all within reach.
Neji's attacks sharpened further.
After a dozen exchanges, he seized an opening—both palms thrust forward, striking Naruto square in the chest and blasting him away.
Naruto flipped midair and landed smoothly, about to rush back—
"Enough," Neji said, raising a hand. "You've already lost."
"What?! Lost? What are you talking about?!" Naruto shouted.
Neji pointed at Naruto's chest.
"During our exchange, I injected chakra filaments into your body. You've already suffered serious internal injuries. Keep going and you'll end up hospitalized. If you don't believe me, take off your shirt."
Naruto jumped—and immediately stripped his shirt.
Then
"You liar! I'm not injured at all!"
"What? Impossible! You should have visible red spots—subdermal bleeding!"
"Bleeding my ass!"
Naruto went completely shirtless. Revealing… nothing.
Neji widened his Byakugan vision, peering into Naruto's body—
Smooth chakra flow. No blockage. No damage.
"How…? You clearly took dozens of hits!"
"Quit bluffing. This fight isn't over. Now it's my turn!"
Naruto charged.
Neji, confused but alert, assumed his stance—
And then Naruto suddenly formed a hand seal.
Poof!
White smoke erupted.
"Oh my~ Neji, how could you hit a girl like that~~"
Naruko had descended.
The legendary Sexy Jutsu delayed Neji's reaction by half a second—
More than enough.
Bam!
A brutal punch smashed into Neji's left eye.
"Haha! Got you! Every time I use Sexy Jutsu, it turns the tide!"
Neji was sent flying nearly ten meters. Three seconds later, he staggered up—only to reveal a swollen, purple eye, completely shut.
Though the Byakugan grants near-360° vision even with one eye, humans aren't built for asymmetry.
Suddenly losing half your vision severely disrupts balance and coordination—unless you're someone like Kakashi, who's used to it.
"This round—I win!"
Still in Naruko form, Naruto lunged to finish the job—
When suddenly
A Fireball Jutsu roared in from behind.
Naruto reacted too late.
She crossed her arms and was blasted away.
"Hmph. Don't call me sneaky," Sasuke sneered. "This was two-on-one from the start. Blame yourself for being careless."
His smug words barely finished
When reality struck back.
Naruto burst from the smoke—completely unharmed—and charged furiously.
Bam!
One punch smashed into Sasuke's face, sending him flying more than ten meters.
"You bastard! Sneak attacking me?! I'll beat your face into a flower!"
