As if summoned by the argument itself, her phone began to ring.
Delilah glanced at the screen and inhaled sharply.
"It's the Luna Mother…"
"Answer it," Viv said quietly.
Delilah swiped to accept, forcing composure into her voice. "Hello, Luna Mother… I was just heading back…" She paused. "Really?" Her eyes widened. "This Saturday? Oh my goddess…"
The despair that had drenched Delilah minutes earlier evaporated.
"Right… yes… of course. I have to get my hair done… there is practically no time. I'll see you in a bit… thank you."
She ended the call slowly, staring at the phone for a beat.
Then she looked up at Vivienne.
A smile spread across her face.
"I'm guessing good news?" Vivienne asked, carefully neutral.
Delilah could barely contain herself. "The Alpha himself wants the engagement this Saturday. And the wedding is scheduled for next week."
Vivienne's eyebrow lifted slowly. "The Alpha himself?"
"Yes!"
