Kai's words had barely fallen when Crocodile's anger flared.
So this brat really did think he was easy prey.
"Come on, then."
Kai rolled his shoulder lightly.
"Let me see what the famous Sand Crocodile can do. Let's see whether you deserve the Navy's evaluation."
The air grew heavy.
Hot wind swept over the desert, lifting fine grains of sand into the air.
Crocodile's face went cold.
"Brat… you're going to regret this."
The next instant, his body began to crumble into sand.
Logia intangibility.
The most troublesome ability of a natural-type Devil Fruit.
In the first half of the Grand Line, a Logia user was almost invincible to anyone who lacked Haki or seastone.
Unfortunately for Crocodile, the person standing before him was Kai.
"Elemental intangibility?"
Kai's expression turned strange.
Using that in front of him?
Was Crocodile treating him like some rookie who had just entered the Grand Line?
"If you used that against newcomers, I'd understand. To them, Logia intangibility is basically impossible to deal with."
Kai's eyes narrowed.
"But using it against me? Aren't you looking down on me a little too much, Crocodile?"
Crocodile did not answer.
He raised his arm, and it turned into flowing sand.
"Desert Spada!"
His arm stretched and sharpened, forming a massive blade of sand that slashed down toward Kai.
The attack came fast, sharp, and merciless.
Crocodile had no intention of holding back against someone like Fist Demon Kai.
Kai remained calm.
"Observation Haki."
An invisible field spread from him in every direction.
Within a thousand meters, every movement, every shift of sand, every breath of wind became clear in his mind.
Crocodile's attack was no exception.
The path of the sand blade appeared in Kai's perception with perfect clarity.
"Too slow."
Kai moved slightly to the side.
The giant sand blade passed by him and crashed into the desert.
Boom!
The ground split open.
A deep, savage scar stretched more than ten meters across the sand. If that strike had landed on an ordinary person, it would have split them in two.
Kai stood beside the gash, his clothes and hair fluttering in the shockwave.
He looked at Crocodile and smiled faintly.
"That's it? You should have more than this."
Crocodile's face darkened.
He pressed his palm to the ground.
"Desert Grande Espada!"
Power surged through the sand beneath Kai's feet. In an instant, a massive blade rose from the ground and stabbed toward his chest.
But just as Crocodile thought it would hit, Kai vanished.
Only an afterimage remained.
The sand blade pierced through empty air.
Crocodile's pupils shrank.
"Shave?"
The Marine Six Powers.
And Kai's mastery of Soru had clearly reached an absurd level.
He had moved so quickly that it looked like teleportation.
A quiet voice sounded behind Crocodile.
"Looking for me?"
Crocodile's expression changed.
Without hesitation, he activated his Logia intangibility again and turned.
Behind him stood Kai.
And coming toward him was a fist.
A black, armored fist wrapped in Armament Haki.
"In front of me, you still dare rely on intangibility?"
Kai laughed softly.
"Crocodile, you really wasted all these years."
His fist tore through the air.
The space around it seemed to distort under the pressure.
Boom!
The punch struck.
