Chapter 1 - Whispers in the Dust

Prologue: Whispers in the Dust & the Pharaoh

The conference room was as fancy as a catwalk, but the vibe was more like a pre-game huddle. Five misfits—Thor, Izelle, Sonic, Murg, and Don—sat across from a bunch of Egyptian officials. These dudes looked like they'd just stepped out of a history textbook, all stern faces and ancient wisdom.

Thor, the leader with a brain like a supercomputer, leaned forward. "Listen up, General. We're not here to hunt ghosts. We're pros, and we take high-risk jobs. But we need to know what we're walking into here."

General Karim, with eyes that had seen too much, sighed and pushed a file across the table. "The details? They're sketchy. Over the past two decades, three teams have vanished into thin air. The only thing they had in common was this pyramid—Amenti."

Izelle, the smart-mouth, scoffed. "Lost? Seriously? Did they forget their GPS or something?"

Thor gave her a look that said, "Shut up and listen." He knew they needed intel, and arguing wouldn't get them anywhere.

Sonic, who was already plugged into his laptop, chimed in. "The digital footprint around Amenti is nonexistent. No satellite pics, no seismic readings. It's like the place doesn't want to be seen."

Murg, the muscle with a brain, added, "We're going in blind."

General Karim nodded, looking grim. "Exactly. We only know Amenti is something big and deadly. The last team sent a few scattered messages before they disappeared. Here's one of them." He handed Thor a tablet with a shaky message on it: "The desert whispers. Beware the shadows. The guardian awakens."

Don, the imposing figure with a voice like a rumbling volcano, said, "Guardian? Shadows? Sounds like something out of a horror movie."

Karim's face remained stoic. "Maybe. But the evidence says otherwise. One of the team members said they felt a presence—a suffocating dread, like someone was watching them."

An official with sharp eyes and a no-nonsense attitude stepped forward. "We get it. This is a risky mission. We're offering a big paycheck if you succeed, plus the chance to make some big discoveries. But the main goal is to contain whatever's in there. Nothing leaves Amenti. Got it?"

Thor glanced at his team. Izelle was all hyped up, Sonic was focused, Murg was ready for anything, and Don looked like he was already planning his escape. They were a team, and they trusted each other. So, despite the creepiness, they were ready to go.

"Got it," Thor said. "We'll do our best. But we have conditions. We want full control inside the pyramid. No outside interference. And if things get crazy, we're saving ourselves first."

There was a tense silence, then General Karim nodded. "Agreed. May the gods be with you. And may you come back."

The sun was setting, making the desert look like a scene from a movie. Five people stood in front of Amenti, a small pyramid that looked like it was hiding a secret. Unlike the big, famous pyramids, this one was more like a mysterious hump on the sand. Its stone was worn down, but there was something eerie about it.

Don, looking a bit nervous, asked, "Are you sure about this, Thor?"

Thor nodded, his eyes fixed on the pyramid's door. "Egypt trusts us. They think this place holds something they can't handle—something dangerous."

Izelle, who was busy unlocking the door, snorted. "Dangerous? You say that a lot. I've faced scarier things than a locked door."

Sonic, checking his laptop, said, "No active surveillance. Minimal tech interference. The good news? Nothing's attacking us. The bad news? This place is tech-proof. We're going in blind."

Murg, adjusting his knife, said, "And what's this 'dangerous' thing, Thor?"

Thor took a deep breath. "They don't know. But after several failed missions, every team vanished. The last message they found was on the door: 'Beware the whispers in the dust.'"

Izelle finally managed to unlock the door, which creaked open, revealing a dark, eerie space. A gust of wind rushed out, carrying sand and a creepy feeling.

Just as they were about to enter, a faint whisper echoed from the darkness: "Welcome… to Amenti…"

The door opened wider, revealing a steep descent into the unknown. Darkness and whispers called to them, and the five friends stepped forward, ready for whatever lay ahead. Their mission had just begun, and they knew it was going to be one heck of a ride.
