Chapter 234 - Chapter 233 The First Spark to Ignite the Flames of War

Fortunately, this was in the dream World, a World completely controlled by Dane. This energy within Faora was like a rootless duckweed here and was easily extracted by Dane.

"Cortana."

Cortana appeared in the dream: "I am here."

Dane handed her the energy: "Help me check if other Kryptonians also have this energy within them."

"Alright." Cortana took it and disappeared.

After the power from the Underworld was removed, Faora awoke from her coma.

"I... what happened to me?"

"Someone tampered with your soul. Don't move yet."

As Dane spoke, his palm emitted magic light, shining on her to check for any other traces of magic~.

Faora felt a bit uncomfortable, like she was being scrutinized naked, and instinctively averted her gaze.

However, Dane had no ulterior motives. After a thorough inspection, he withdrew his magic.

Thankfully, what Hades placed on Faora was not a contract but a brand.

Contract magic requires both parties to sign under conditions of free will to be valid.

Of course, you can set traps, but in its outward form, it must be fair. This thing is infinitely close to Real World contracts and is an embodiment of the power of rules.

So, if it were contract magic, it would mean Faora's soul already belonged to Hades, and then the contract between Dane and her would have to be voided, because Faora couldn't sell her soul to two people.

She wasn't a prodigy in the lending World like Constantine... But fortunately, it was only brand magic. This kind of magic only needed the brand to be removed, and everything would be fine.

The only problem was that once the brand was removed, the Master who placed the brand would immediately sense it, meaning Hades might have already discovered this... Hades had indeed discovered it, even faster than Dane anticipated.

The moment Faora signed her name, the conflict of the two divine powers made him clearly sense the abnormality.

"Is it Shazam? It seems he has already found out."

Hades had never expected to hide this from the other party forever, so he remained relatively calm.

If it were just him against Shazam, perhaps Hades wouldn't be so overconfident, because Shazam had even killed the First of the Fallen, a piece of news that once made Hades very wary.

Especially since he hadn't found the spirit of the First of the Fallen in the Underworld, which was very incredible.

For immortal beings like them, life and Death are merely different forms of existence, not the end of life.

Zeus had 'died' several times, and isn't he still the King of Gods in the New God Realm?

So Hades's wariness of Shazam came more from his lack of understanding of Shazam's unknown methods; this unknown was what he found most dangerous.

But now it was different; he had a very powerful ally.

"When do you plan to start?"

Behind Hades, a tall man in heavy armor stepped out. He was Ares, God of War of Olympus!

His choice to cooperate with Hades was not surprising at all.

Ares's goal was the Human World, not only to obtain everything in the Human World but also to reignite the flames of war in the Human World, as his power stemmed from it.

And Hades's goal was Hell; he hoped to incorporate Hell into the Underworld, expanding his authority in the Underworld.

Although their goals were different, they both had a common enemy on the path to achieving their goals: Shazam!

Therefore, cooperation was perfectly normal.

"Be patient, Ares. Hespera is already in action. Soon you will see the war you have longed for."

Hades dared to say such a thing because the war in the Human World indeed showed signs of being on the verge of breaking out.

The reason was still the severe imbalance of the United States' military power, which made other countries in the World see the hope of taking advantage.

With the boss seemingly faltering, would the second, third, and fourth powers just sit idly by?

If it weren't for the many superheroes in the United States, someone would probably have lost patience long ago.

Even if no national power had yet attacked the United States mainland, on the Middle East battlefield, the United States' military power could be said to be in constant retreat.

The United States' proxy wars could be declared a complete failure, which further damaged its international prestige.

The President was so worried his hair was almost gone. He even sought out Shazam, hoping the Justice League could expand its 'business' to other countries... which was essentially hoping the Justice League would project military force abroad!

But this proposal was sternly rejected by Shazam. Are you kidding? He had just managed to get the United States into its current state; how could he turn around and do dirty work for the United States?

Even Martian Manhunter wouldn't do that!

Not only would the Justice League not do it, but the Justice Society would also not help the United States because of this. So, in the end, this task could only be given to Amanda, which also caused her status in the government to begin to rise.

It was even enough for the President to overlook many of her derelictions of duty.

But the United States had made too many enemies in the World. Even if Amanda's Suicide Squad was busy every day, they still couldn't stop the surrounding countries from coveting it.

Now, all that was needed was a spark to ignite this war.

Hespera didn't understand the intricacies of this; she knew too little about the Human World and too little about politics. So, she plunged headfirst into this vortex.

She also, as Hades and Ares had expected, became the first spark to ignite the war.

From Sloth, she learned that the second strongest member of the Justice League, a demigod named Superman, resided in Metropolis.

She planned to make him her first target!

Not only because doing so would give humanity the greatest deterrence, but also because she already knew that this demigod was not proficient in magic.

The Kryptonian Soldiers, who had been basking in the Sun for several days, attacked Metropolis under Hespera's command.

Without any declaration of war, Hespera led the Underworld Kryptonians in a direct assault on Metropolis. They flew in the sky, wantonly slicing through buildings with their heat vision, letting the structures collapse and crush the mortals on the ground.

"Humans, remember again, your Old Gods have returned!"

Hespera hovered high in the sky, looking down at the ravaged people below.

Under the subtle guidance of the Sins, the 'evil' side of her heart was fully ignited. At this moment, seeing the tragic state of the innocent, she felt no pity whatsoever.

Clark awoke from his comfortable slumber, sharply casting his gaze skyward. His eyes pierced through the ceiling, seeing the Kryptonians in the sky.

"How is this possible?"

Hadn't he and Dane already dealt with the Kryptonians?

But Clark had no time to think. He immediately got up, rushing to run outside.

"Clark, you're not wearing any clothes yet!"

Behind him, Lois's voice came from under the covers.

"Lois, I have something very important to do right now, so I'm leaving first."

Clark haphazardly grabbed some clothes and pants, then turned and ran out, looking exactly like a scumbag who pulls up his pants and disavows responsibility.

But fortunately, this wasn't his first time, and Lois was somewhat used to it.

However, she had some doubts, because every time Clark disappeared, Superman would appear in Metropolis. Could it be… but they didn't look alike at all?

Leaving Lois's line of sight, Clark threw away the clothes in his hand. He quickly changed into his blue battle suit at super speed, pushed off with his feet, and flew into the sky at supersonic speed.

Not long after, he saw several burly men in armor, shooting heat vision into the sky. Counting them, there were no less than ten!

And those ten Kryptonians also discovered him, and without any hesitation, they all rushed towards him.

The leading Kryptonian Soldier flew over, raising his fist as if to punch Clark, but he deftly dodged it.

He elbowed downwards, hitting the Kryptonian on the back of his head.

The Kryptonian's head reeled, and his body plummeted directly, crashing into the ground and creating a huge crater.

But at the same time, the other Kryptonians also rushed up. Due to their large numbers and being too close to the ground, to prevent accidental injury to ordinary people, Clark was involuntarily grabbed by his hands and feet.

Once his body was restrained, one of them, carried by the momentum of flight, slammed into him. This blow landed on Clark with a dull thud that almost the entire city could hear.

Clark was sent flying. He tried to adjust his flight direction, avoiding the tall buildings and crowded areas, and finally crashed into the subway tunnel.

He was unharmed, but the enemy outnumbered him, and he needed help.

So Clark sent out an emergency distress signal to all Justice League members...
