As soon as the helmet of fate was in hand, the consciousness within it began to attack Dane; it was the will of Nabu.
But that power, just as it surged up, was suppressed by Dane with divine power.
"A mere god without a body dares to attack proactively?"
Dane slammed down with a palm imbued with thunderous divine power. The golden divine power on the helmet of fate was instantly dispersed, and the Impact wave spread, causing the flying Cyclone to stumble.
She stopped and looked closely, only to find that the person standing before her was none other than the famous Shazam!
"Shazam!" Cyclone exclaimed.
"Hello, Maxine Hunkel."
"You, you know me?"
Maxine was very surprised. She had always thought of herself as a nobody, and today's operation was her debut!
magic surged from Dane's body, bringing her and the Spirit of Kandake to the battlefield.
Maxine was stunned for a moment, feeling very magical. Was this why Justice League members always arrived at disaster sites in time?
Their appearance attracted everyone's attention. Both the Justice Society and Teth-Adam cast their gazes upon him.
"Shazam." Hawkman said with a grim face.
"Who did you say he is?" Adam flew back at this moment, looking at Dane warily.
He felt that this person was no weaker than him.
Teth-Adam felt a bit depressed. He knew that thousands of years ago, he was the only god of Kahndaq, and the strongest person.
Even several members of the Wizard Council who had granted him power had been killed by him.
Who would have thought that after reappearing in the World, so many powerful enemies would suddenly emerge!
"Perhaps this will make it clearer to you." Dane heard Adam's question.
A Scepter suddenly appeared in his hand, ancient in design, with a bright crystal.
Adam immediately recognized this item; the members of the Wizard Council each had one.
His face instantly darkened: "You are the successor of that group of wizards!"
"It's good that you remember." Dane nodded. "Then you must also remember why the wizards sealed you in the first place."
Adam's entire body tensed, and the power of lightning was already crackling on his skin.
Dane saw his expression and smiled: "Do you think I'm like them?"
He raised the Scepter and tapped it on the ground. magic power spread outward, and a huge suction force was generated out of thin air.
Adam was uncontrollably pulled forward, as if teleported, and his palm pressed against the Scepter.
It was just like when Dane first received the Shazam Force.
He looked up and saw Dane smiling at him, and his heart immediately sank.
"No!"
Dane uttered the spell: "Shazam!"
The sky changed color, and a bolt of lightning descended from above, striking the Scepter.
When the smoke cleared, Teth-Adam had already reverted to a mortal, though he did not age and die from it.
"Shazam!"
Adam said the word immediately, but to his horror, this time he did not transform.
Dane pointed a finger, and a magical light touched Adam's throat, loading a language module for him.
Adam clutched his throat and yelled at him in English: "What have you done to me!"
"Done what the Wizard Council should have done thousands of years ago." Dane said calmly.
The Shazam Force is essentially a contract magic. If a contract can be signed, it can naturally also be terminated.
And the Scepter is the Shazam's contract token, or document; both signing and termination can be accomplished through it.
Dane didn't understand why Wizard Shazam didn't do this back then. Perhaps it was because he still held illusions about Teth-Adam?
Dane didn't know, but his approach was not so gentle.
"You stripped me of my power!" Adam questioned him.
"I am taking back the power that never should have belonged to you." Dane corrected him, saying in a low voice:
"You should be very clear from whom you inherited your power; it originally belonged to Herut!"
Herut was Adam's son, and the true heir of the Shazam Force, a warrior with a pure soul.
Had it not been to save Teth-Adam's life, he would not have passed this power to him.
And this was why Dane was able to so easily strip Black Adam of his divine power, because he was not the true Defender.
The divine power was not that loyal to him either.
Adam pursed his lips and fell silent.
Was he obsessed with power? Of course, that was part of it; power was the only thing that someone of his enslaved background could use to change his destiny.
But there was another reason: this power was the last relic his son had left him.
Of course, he wasn't a fool; he knew that without his power, he couldn't possibly reclaim the divine power from his opponent.
"Shazam!" Hawkman stepped forward, his expression displeased. "Shouldn't you return the helmet to Kent?"
"Of course." Dane had no intention of coveting the helmet of fate.
The helmet itself wasn't inherently powerful; it was the Nabu within it that was strong, so only those Nabu approved of could use his power.
Moreover, using the helmet of fate was equivalent to surrendering one's body to Nabu, and the original owner of the body had little autonomy. How could a human contend with a God?
Dane made a request to Hawkman… strictly speaking, to Kent: "Before I return this to you, you must tell me what you saw in the future."
Dane knew that Kent Nelson wouldn't appear here unless it was absolutely necessary.
In the movie, he came out to take Hawkman's place because he had a premonition that Hawkman might die. So what about now?
Kent saw that Hawkman seemed about to lose his temper and reached out to stop him.
"Knowing the future isn't a good thing, because you might not be able to change anything."
"Or the opposite," Dane said.
Upon hearing this, Kent stopped trying to persuade him and told him what he had seen in his premonition.
Dane looked thoughtful, and the other members of the Justice Society also heard Kent recount the full story for the first time.
Cyclone Maxine was half-skeptical; she believed in science, and prophecy didn't sound scientific at all… Suddenly, Dane tossed the helmet, and Kent caught it with both hands.
"Your business here is done. Now, please leave."
Hawkman could no longer suppress his anger: "You don't seem to have the right to order us around?"
"No, I don't, but she does." Dane pointed to the Spirit of Kandake.
"Who are you?"
Because he was angry, Hawkman wasn't very polite to her.
"I am this country, this city."
"What are you talking about…"
Kent stopped Hawkman. He gravely scrutinized the young girl, then put on the helmet.
With the helmet on, Doctor Fate saw the girl's true nature more clearly. He turned to look at Hawkman.
"We should go."
Hawkman looked at him in astonishment. Do you know what you're saying? The Doctor Fate I know isn't such a coward!
But Doctor Fate didn't offer much explanation, simply used magic with both hands to take everyone, including Teth-Adam, away.
This included Atom Smasher, who had lost consciousness and returned to his normal size.
Only after they had all disappeared did Dane begin to examine his gains.
This time, he had completely obtained the portion of divine power from Black Adam.
His Shazam Force also represented six deities, specifically six Egyptian Gods.
S stands for the Stamina of Shu, the Egyptian God of wind and air.
H stands for the Speed of Horus, who is quite familiar as the ruler of ancient Egypt, the Guardian God of pharaohs, and also a God of revenge.
A stands for the Might of Amon, one of the avatars of the Sun God Ra, symbolizing the midday Sun.
Z stands for the Wisdom of Zehuti (Thoth), the God of wisdom and learning; legend has it that the Book of the Dead was written by him.
The second A stands for the Power of Aton, also one of the avatars of the Sun God Ra, symbolizing the Sun at dawn, and the formless Sun itself.
M stands for the Courage of Mehen, a serpentine Guardian God who constantly coils around the Sun God Atum (yes, this is also one of Ra's avatars, symbolizing the evening Sun…) as his protector during his nightly journey.
Dane's expression was odd; the Wizard Shazam was quite harsh on the Sun God in the Egyptian pantheon, always targeting him alone.
Although the pantheons were different, the attributes of Black Adam's divine powers were consistent with the Six Gods' powers Dane himself possessed, making them an effective supplement for him.
Powers of the same level quickly merged upon contact, forming a new Six Gods' power.
With a thought, a slightly yellowed book appeared in Dane's hand. It was a book written on a single sheet of papyrus, titled the Book of the Dead.
What a coincidence, besides his identity as Shazam, he was also a God of Death!
