Before I could stop or intervene, Amy added, "And the crown looked so beautiful on Mommy's head."
As she finished, I looked out the window, almost as if avoiding Kash's gaze would be a way out of this situation.
"Really? That is interesting. So who crowned your mother?" he remarked.
I snapped my head back at Kash, wondering what this reaction was. He sounded more cocky.
"Grandpa did," Amy and Colin replied in unison.
I turned toward them, and their excitement faded when they saw me looking at them.
"Kids,Why don't you look at your tablet, huh?" I told them, "you are talking about fairy tales and dreams."
I added with a fake laugh, holding my hand to my mouth. I did not know who I was fooling at this point. Of course, Kash must have noticed. He was not a child.
We arrived home, and the kids got out of the car to change in their room so they would be fresh by the time I had dinner with my father. I had promised my father dinner, so that was what I was going to do.
