Chapter 8 - 8

"Launch all fighters." Galahad said as he look out of the window from his flagship.

The moment Task Force Silver jump out of the hyperspace, the battle already begun.

Luminara fleet, which jump into eh hyperspace earlier than his have already begun their attack.

So, Galahad also immediately begin his attack to make sure Luminara didn't get the full treatment of the Separatists attack.

From the Venators hanger, squadrons of V-19s charged our to engage the Vultures.

Because of House Black wealth, Galahad have make sure each of the Venators have the full complement of starfighters. He even successfully to get two squadrons worth of ARC-170s, which currently all currently station on the Fists of Iron, his flagship.

Behind the starfighters, Galahad begin to slowly advancing while organizing the fleet formation.

"General, five Munificents are approaching us," one for he naval officer said.

"Well, what are we waiting for," Galahad said with his arm cross, "all batteries, open fire."

All the Venators fire their DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets, immediately destroy one of the Munificents.

As the battle continue, Task Force Silver begin to push the Separatists fleet back. The Vultures swarm tactic didn't perform as well as before due to the DP20 providing a effective anti-starfigther cover for the fleet, destorying much for the Vultures before they reah the core of the fleet.

"General," Vorn suddenly said after standing beside Galahad silently since the start of the battle, "General Fay have begin her attack on the shipyards."

Galahad nodded.

"Good," he said. "Give the infiltration team the green light to begin their mission."

"Yes, General," Vorn replied as he sent the signal.

Far below, the Consular quietly moved toward the damaged section of the shipyards.

"Senator, please stay close to Sergeant Ion," Spear, the ARC team leader, said. "He will be responsible for your safety."

The ARC trooper beside Padmé Amidala nodded toward her, showing which clone Spear meant.

"Thank you, Commander," Padmé replied. "But Master Galahad has taught me how to survive in a firefight."

Because of her adventurous nature, Galahad had trained her on what to do during combat. At the same time, he had prepared armor for her—a white and silver Mandalorian-style suit.

It was not pure beskar, but the armor was mainly made from strong durasteel, with beskar plates protecting the most important areas.

She was also armed with a long-barrel ELG-3A, modified for better stability and a larger power pack.

"Regardless of the training you received, Senator," Spear said firmly, "real combat is unpredictable. It is safer if you follow my orders."

"I understand," Padmé said with a small nod.

At that moment, the pilot's voice came through the comm.

"Approaching entry point B-09. The hull damage is just ahead."

Inside the troop bay, the ARC troopers and commandos checked their weapons one last time.

Magnetic clamps locked onto the outer hull of the shipyard structure.

Spear raised his hand.

"Stand by."

A dull thud echoed through the hull as the boarding clamps secured the ship.

"Cutting through now," one of the commandos said as a plasma cutter lit up the metal wall.

Bright sparks flew in every direction.

Within seconds, a circular section of metal dropped inward with a loud crash.

Spear raised his blaster.

"Move!"

The ARC troopers rushed through the opening first, weapons up, scanning the dark corridor beyond.

Sergeant Ion stepped forward and gestured to Padmé.

"Stay behind us, Senator."

In the distance, faint mechanical footsteps echoed through the corridor.

Battle droids were already coming.

"Commander," Gregor said as his commando squad moved toward another corridor, "this is where we separate. Good luck."

"Good hunting," Spear replied.

Gregor nodded once, then led his commandos down the side corridor at a quick pace. Their mission was different—reach the power generator and destroy it.

The ARC troopers continued forward, while Padmé stay at the back line.

When the ARCs leave, Commander Thorn with three squads of clone troopers take their place, forming the defensive line.

"Contacts ahead," one of them whispered.

A moment later, a group of B1 battle droids marched around the corner.

"Hey, there's intru—"

The sentence never finished.

Blue blaster bolts flashed down the hallway as the ARC troopers opened fire. The first row of droids collapsed instantly.

More droids appeared from deeper inside the corridor.

"We can't waste time on this," one ARC trooper said. He turned to the two troopers beside him. "Give them the pulse grenades."

The two ARCs nodded and pulled the grenades from their belts.

A moment later, four pulse grenades flew through the air. Each landed at a different distance, spreading across the entire column of droids.

The grenades detonated.

A powerful blue shockwave burst through the corridor. Circuits sparked and metal bodies collapsed as the electrical pulse surged through the droids.

Within seconds, the entire column of battle droids dropped to the floor, lifeless.

Smoke and sparks filled the hallway.

One ARC stepped forward and kicked a fallen droid aside.

"Path is clear," he said.

"Let's go," Spear said as he step out and move towards the front.

With this, the ARCs and Padmé continue their journey towards the designers.

Their route was mostly quiet.

But the same could not be said for the commandos.

===

"Captain, we need to find a way through those super battle droids!" Castle shouted as he fired his DC-17m at the advancing B2 super battle droids.

"Sound, is your jammer ready?" Gregor asked while firing his blaster.

"You need to give me more time, Captain," Sound replied as he worked quickly on his small datapad. "The droids updated their security system. I need more time to break through it."

"Enough waiting," Boom said impatiently, holding two thermal detonators. "Just give the order, Captain. I'll blow a path through them."

"No," Gregor said firmly. He fired the grenade launcher on his DC-17m, destroying two super battle droids that moved too close.

"We need those explosives for the generator," he continued. "We may not have enough if we use them here."

Another wave of heavy blaster fire slammed into the wall beside them, sending sparks flying.

Castle leaned out and fired again.

"Then we better find another plan fast, Captain."

Behind them, Sound suddenly looked up from his datapad.

"Done."

At his word, the B2s suddenly stopped moving. Their systems shut down, and they froze where they stood, both arms hanging at their sides.

For a moment, the corridor became quiet.

"Good job," Gregor said as he stepped out of cover.

He waved his hand forward.

"Let's move. We need to destroy the generators."

The commandos quickly advanced down the corridor.

As they pushed deeper into the shipyard, the only battle droids they encountered were B1 battle droids. Without the heavy support of the B2 super battle droids, the droids were easy targets.

Short bursts from their DC-17m blasters dropped the droids one after another.

Within minutes, the commandos reached the generator chamber.

The large room was filled with tall power conduits and a massive energy core in the center, glowing with a faint blue light.

Gregor quickly scanned the room.

"Clear," Castle said after checking the side platforms.

"Good," Gregor replied. He pointed toward the main generator.

"Plant the charges. We bring this whole place down."

Boom grinned as he pulled out the explosives.

"Finally."

As Boom planted the charges, Gregor, Sound, and Castle stood guard at the main door, waiting for the droids to arrive.

Just as they expected, the sound of marching droids soon echoed through the hallway.

"Sound, what can we expect?" Castle asked as he aimed down the right corridor.

"According to the scanner," Sound said while checking his datapad, "only B1 battle droids are coming… at least for now."

"That's good," Gregor said calmly.

Moments later, the first group of battle droids turned the corner.

"Contact," Castle said.

"Open fire," Gregor ordered.

Blaster bolts flashed through the hallway as the commandos fired together. The first line of droids dropped instantly, metal bodies crashing onto the floor.

More droids marched forward from behind them, raising their blasters.

"Boom, how long?" Gregor asked without turning.

"Almost done!" Boom shouted from beside the generator.

Another wave of droids pushed forward, filling the corridor.

Castle switched his rifle to grenade launcher mode and fired. The grenade exploded in the middle of the droid line, sending parts flying across the hall.

"Charges are set!" Boom finally called out.

Gregor nodded.

"Good. Now we move to the second target."

The commandos pushed through the left hallway toward their objective. The deflector shields in their armor absorbed the blaster fire coming from behind them as they advanced.

After running for about three minutes, Gregor turned toward Boom.

"Blow the generators."

"With pleasure," Boom said as he pressed the detonator.

A second later, a powerful explosion shook the facility behind them.

The planted charges detonated, destroying the generator in a massive blast. The lights in the corridor flickered as the power grid failed.

From deeper inside the complex, warning alarms began to sound.

"Good," Gregor said as he continue leading them towards the second target. "Let's go, can't let the General waiting for us."

===

Out in the void of space, starfighters from both sides had begun their deadly dance.

V-19 and Vulture filled the battlefield, twisting and turning between the capital ships.

Blue and red laser fire flashed across the darkness.

Some starfighters exploded in bright fireballs, while others spun out of control and disappeared into the endless void.

Behind them, the warships continued their brutal exchange of fire.

Turbolasers from the Republic ships struck the Separatist line again and again, while the enemy fleet returned fire with equal force.

At the center of the formation, five Venators advanced slowly, their guns firing in coordinated volleys.

"What's our status?" Galahad ask as he watch the battle through the bridge window.

"General Luminara reported the attack is going as plan," Vorn said. "General Fay is still force attacking the target, but the deflector shield still holding."

Galahad nodded slightly as he watched the flashes of turbolaser fire in the distance.

"What about the infiltration team?" he asked.

"They have entered the shipyards successfully," Vorn replied. "By now, the first generator should be destroyed."

Just as he finished speaking, a large explosion erupted in the western section of the shipyard.

"That should be it," Vorn added.

"Good. Then Master Fay should begin her real attack," Galahad said.

But, just a couple second later, a transmission from Fay arrived.

"What do you mean the shield didn't shut down?" Galahad said, his expression turning to confusion. "Wasn't the generator destroyed?"

"Indeed," Fay replied calmly. "According to the message from Foxtrot Group, they destroyed their target. But the shield is still active."

"This means there is another generator powering that section," Vorn said quickly.

"And that means my plan is now useless," Galahad said with a tight expression.

===

"You mean there are six generators powering all the defense sections?" Padmé said in shock.

She had been told earlier, before the mission, by Galahad that there should only be four generators around the shipyards.

"Indeed," the man replied.

He rubbed his forehead tiredly.

"I know where they all are," he continued, "but with what is happening outside now, I doubt we can destroy them in time."

The man was the very designer who had secretly sent the message to Padmé.

Around them, the ARC troopers stood guard while distant blaster fire echoed through the corridors of the shipyard.

"Is there a way we can destroy or shut all of them down?" Spear asked.

The designer hesitated for a moment, thinking.

"There… might be," he finally said. "All six generators are connected to a central control system. It regulates the power flow between them."

"So if we destroy it, the shields go down?" Spear asked.

"Not destroy," the designer said quickly, shaking his head. "If you destroy it, the system may switch to emergency power. But if we reach the control room, I can shut down the entire network."

Padmé looked at him.

"Where is this control room?"

The man pointed toward another section of the shipyard on the holographic map displayed on his datapad.

"Three levels below us," he said quietly. "But it will be heavily guarded."

One of the ARC troopers looked toward the hallway where blaster fire echoed again.

Spear checked the corridor, then looked back at Padmé.

"Well, Senator," he said, "looks like our mission just got bigger."
