Davina's POV
Chase brought us to dinner, picking a quiet restaurant downtown that wasn't too noisy or packed.
We could actually have a conversation without yelling over blaring music or chatter. The rich aroma of hot meals drifted around us as we walked through the entrance.
I looked around, a bit stunned by it all.
Everything felt so foreign—the roads, the atmosphere, the faces, even the language. But it wasn't unpleasant. Actually, it seemed strangely invigorating.
We settled into a little booth in the corner. Cooper immediately flattened his face against the glass, gesturing excitedly at the vehicles and towering structures outside like he'd just touched down on an alien world. "Mama, building so tall," he murmured, eyes enormous.
I grinned and gently patted his shoulder. I was relieved he was absorbing everything with curiosity rather than anxiety. That mattered enormously. "Pretty different from back home, isn't it?"
