Davina's POV
Chase arrived home much earlier than expected, catching me in the middle of preparing dinner. A mischievous smile spread across his features.
"Tonight calls for celebration," he announced, spreading his arms wide as he stepped into the living room.
We shared the evening meal together, our conversation flowing easily between bites and bursts of laughter. Cooper had already surrendered to exhaustion after his eventful school day.
Chase's gaze found mine across the table. "You really ought to express your gratitude to Mr. Derick," he suggested.
I froze mid-bite, my fork suspended in the air. "I will."
"Perfect," Chase replied. "His assistance has been invaluable."
I nodded in agreement. Later, we reached out to our mother through a video call.
"I kept telling you circumstances would improve," their mom's voice carried through the speaker. "Patience was all you needed."
