Chapter 14 - Chapter 30: The Price of Peace

The air stood still as gun barrels locked between Siddik and Nafisa. Flames flickered around the, casting shifting shadows across the bloodstained ground. The Revenants stood behind their king. HUNTERS stood behind Nafisa, many in silence, unsure whether to shoot or surrender.

Siddik's voice cracked through the smoky air.

Siddik: "You were my best friend… the best person I ever met. Then why today?"

Nafisa: "Because you've become a threat, Siddik. The world can't survive you."

Siddik: "You were the only person who believed in me when no one did. You endured hell for me. You cared for me. And now your target is me."

Nafisa: "I can forgive you… but not at the cost of my father's legacy. He died trying to stop the war. I made a promise to him that I'd never let another monster rise again."

Siddik: "Then take the shot. Because if I live today, I swear, I'll kill every single person who stands against me with my own hands."

Nafisa: "We can still fix this together, Siddik. I always loved you, cared about you. I promise, we can do it better together."

A heavy silence fell.

Siddik (softly): "You were my light, Nafisa. I knew you loved me always. But I never loved you the way you wanted. Still, you were my greatest ally. I have an oath… taken long before your promise."

She lowered her eyes. Tears welled but didn't fall. Hridoy, Fakhrul, Zara, and Rafiq came running to the battlefield where those two were aiming at each other.

Siddik (voice colder now): "You think I can't shoot? The man who gave up everything in his life, including his beloved ones, just for one damn oath, can't shoot you?"

Nafisa: Let's see… like you once said–whoever hesitates first, breaks first.

Before Fakhrul can say something, BANG!!!

Blood erupted from Siddik's chest. He dropped. The king–fallen.

Nafisa, shocked at what she'd done, stepped forward and raised the gun again, aiming at Siddik's head.

Another shot cracked.

This time–her head.

She dropped, lifeless.

Fakhrul lowered his rifle. The battlefield gasped. Zara screamed. Hridoy turned in disbelief.

Zara: "What did you do?!"

Hridoy: "You killed Nafisa? The girl who followed you since the beginning?"

Fakhrul (coldly): "She was from Spiral Crown. The only one Siddik could never kill. So I did it on his behalf."

He knelt beside her and pulled back her sleeve – a gleaming bracelet etched with the Spiral crest."

Fakhrul: "Her father was part of the Spiral wars. He flew away long ago and joined us. Before his death, she made a promise to him that she would kill him. I, Siddik, we both knew it. But Siddik always said he could never do it by himself."

Rafiq (shocked): "You knew?"

Tayeb (urgently): "He's still breathing! But we're losing him fast! We have to take him to the hospital immediately."

Musa stepped forward, threw Siddik's bleeding body over his shoulder, and tore across the field toward the medical wing. Zaber, leader of the Revenants, covered him.

In Italy…

Rafi crouched behind a stone wall near the Sheesh mansion. He watched in disbelief as Mike's elite units were slaughtered by–

–a girl in a cloak, spinning through them like a storm, blade singing death.

–and from above, precise sniper shots cut through soldiers like whispers of death.

Footsteps approached.

The girl (smirking): "You must be Rafi."

Rafi (confused): "Do we… know each other?"

The girl: "Maybe. I am the princess of the neighboring island of Spiral Island. Siddik called me yesterday and told me about you. By the way, I am Samia Ahsan."

Samia and Rafi shake each other's hands. A man in a mask joins them.

The man (uncovers face): "If we hadn't shown up in time, you'd be headless by now."

Rafi (shocked): "Darwin? What a pleasant surprise! I was told…"

Darwin: "I was dead. You know, your friend always calls ghosts. When will you learn some fights, Rafi? And yes, why did he choose you here today?"

Rafi: "Who knows? He sent his elder brother on a world tour. And fighting Mike on the island by himself."

Darwin: Then we should join him at the battlefield. Samia, please take care of the King's family. Rafi, let's go."

Samia: "Roger that, General."

Rafi: "But first, Brother Hasan needs a backup. He sent me a location near Turin."

Darwin: "Then let's go."

Back in Spiral Island…

Siddik's treatment was going on. Fakhrul and Hridoy were sitting on chairs. Zara, Tayeb, and Rafiq were standing. All were waiting and looking at Fakhrul silently.

Hridoy broke the silence.

Hridoy: "Why did you do that? You didn't even hesitate.

Zara: "Yes, we never thought you'd do that to save the warlord."

Fakhrul: "Because I always knew that this day would come. I had to choose between good and bad. I knew them both. I have known Siddik since his teen years, and also Nafisa and her father. Nafisa's father died in a battle; he was the team's leader. When he was killed, I saw a Spiral crest tattoo on his back. I captured a photo and showed none but Siddik, because he was from Spiral Island. He said that was the Spiral Crown's identity. I warned him about Nafisa because she loved him, and she made a promise to her father that she'd kill the Spiral Island's King. I'm not sure if it was Siddik, who managed to disappear his family from Spiral and announced himself as the King of the island."

Zara (tension in face): "Then what happened?"

Fakhrul: "That day, I warned him again about this, but he didn't believe me. Then I promised him that if she ever tried to shoot him or kill him, I would be the first person to take her down. And today she made the shot, and I kept my promise. And didn't you see after shooting once, she again aimed at him?"

Everyone was shocked to hear all this. No one could believe it, but the story was told by Fakhrul, who never lies.

Hours passed. The war ended. The Revenants stood victorious. The remaining enemies were rounded up, bound, and taken into custody.

Zaber, bloodied, victorious but still tensed, approached the rest.

Zaber: "The war's over. Spiral stands."

Fakhrul stands up and steps forward to Zaber.

Fakhrul: "You never betrayed Siddik. Then why didn't you join him from the first day? Don't tell me that you didn't know about what was going on earth."

Zaber: "I, even we all knew everything from the very beginning. But we were not allowed to interfere until he called us. His words are our rule; we never break them. We don't serve any King; we serve the devil. The devil that can destroy a state with just a signal of his eyes."

Meanwhile, the doctors came out of the operating theatre.

Doctor: "He's stable. Barely. But lost a lot of blood. Don't worry; we have managed all the necessary treatment. He wants to meet you all. But don't take too much time, he needs rest."

They all entered the room. Siddik, pale but alert, opened his eyes.

Siddik: "Zaber, what's the report?"

Zaber: "Sir, we have won. The dead were taken to be buried, and the rest to custody."

Siddik: "Call the media. I have some announcements."

Zaber left.

Fakhrul: "The Doctor has told to take you to rest."

Siddik: "Nafisa… what happened to her? Where's she?"

Fakhrul: "I kept my promise. The bullet was fired from my rifle, which has no Spiral stuff."

Siddik's breath caught.

Siddik: "Why did you save me? I betrayed you, I left you behind, and I killed many innocents."

Fakhrul: "I don't know. I just kept my promise. But yes, I didn't save you because I agreed with your war. I saved you… because you're the only man left with the strength to carry the world."

Silence.

Zaber entered. "Media is waiting, Sir. What's your order?"

Siddik: "Bring them in."

The Broadcast

The cameras rolled. The world held its breath.

Siddik sat upright, wrapped in bandages. His voice was firm.

Siddik:

"The war is over for now. But the world… It's just the beginning. If anyone ever dares to bring chaos again, I'll fight him again.

In this war, I lost my people, my beloved friends, my trusted ones. But I didn't lose the dream."

Siddik stared at the cameras.

Siddik:

"I've seen what revolutions do. They devour the innocent, crown the reckless, and call it progress. I'm not against change. I'm against stupidity dressed as heroism. You can call me tyrant, dictator, whatever you want. But before you do, walk the ruins of Sudan. Touch the ashes of Aleppo. Hear the weeping children of Gaza.

And then tell me I was wrong."

He continued:

"From today, the world unites. Under one rule, one law, one purpose. Seven Governors will lead the seven continents.

Asia: Tayeb – for his loyalty and sacrifice.

Europe: Joseph – returned from death to protect life.

Africa: Musa – a silent blade of justice.

South America: Rafi – brave heart of resistance and powerful mind.

North America: Rafiq – for his wisdom and reason.

Antarctica: Zaber – the ghost warrior who never failed me.

Australia: as Spiral Island is beside it, we'll take it on our own.

They all will report to the King of Spiral Island. All the national and international affairs, business, and everything will be looked at by us. Help us to build a world without war, greed, or oppression."

The broadcast ends. People were reacting positively to this on social media.

Siddik takes his phone and calls Hasan.

Siddik: "How's it?"

Hasan: "Almost done. Just watched your live. Are you ok?"

Siddik: "Yes, I am. I want you back in three days."

Hasan: "Darwin and Rafi are with me."

Siddik: "Yes, bring them too."

Siddik cuts the call and again calls Samia.

Samia: "You're welcome."

Siddik: "It was your duty. So no thank you."

Samia: "This is not fair."

Siddik: "Three days, I want you all here."

Samia: "Ok. But will they come?"

Siddik: "Yes. Just let them know."

Siddik cuts the call and thinks about something.

Two Days Later

Siddik stood dressed in black at the funeral grounds. Rasel and Nafisa's bodies were buried beneath white stone pillars. He laid a flower and pulled out a silver locket. Inside—her photo. His hand trembled.

Siddik (whispering, looking at the grave):

"Nafisa, no one knew my gun was empty because I could never shoot you. Even if you could shoot me."

The others waited nearby.

Fakhrul approached.

Siddik: "I need to take you all somewhere. A place no outsider has entered."

He led Fakhrul, Zara, Tayeb, and Hridoy through the ruined spiral forest, past the sacred gates, into a Cliffside chamber hidden by moss and wind.

The door opened with Siddik's handprint.

They stepped into a massive stone hall carved into the mountain — candles, scrolls, weapons, ancient texts. The silence was holy.

Zara: "What is this place?"

Siddik: "My sanctuary. Where I prepared… for everything."

He sat on the altar in the middle.

Siddik: "Here, I fasted. Meditated. Choose this war. Here… I killed my past version."

Tayeb: "Why bring us?"

Siddik (calmly): "Because it's time you knew the truth."

Fakhrul: "The truth about what?"

Siddik (looking up):

"How I became the man your enemies and allies fear.

How I survived Spiral Crown.

How I became The King of War."
