Chapter 17 - Ashes of the Second Floor

Alex collapsed onto the shattered floor, his body broken, his breaths ragged and uneven. Each inhale burned his lungs as blood pooled beneath him, seeping into the cracks of the ruined stone.

Three hours later.

Alex stirred and slowly pushed himself upright. His wounds had vanished without a trace—bones mended, flesh restored. Fully recovered.

He summoned his status window, eyes scanning the familiar golden glow.

[You have reached Level 31.]

[Level: 29]

[Strength: 47]

[Agility: 46]

[Stamina: 46]

[Mana: 46]

[Shadow Energy: 31]

[Unallocated Points: 2]

Alex narrowed his eyes in disbelief.

Even my growth surprises me, he thought. In my past life, I was only Level 18 when I finished the second floor.

Rising to his feet, he opened his inventory and noticed another reward waiting for him—a long black cloak, its fabric darker than shadow itself, with a silver chain draped along one side. He inspected it through the system, and his breath caught.

[Cloak of Invincibility]

[Agility +2]

[Skill: Consumes 1 Mana per minute to enter an invincible state, avoiding enemy detection]

[Durability: 500]

A rare smile crossed Alex's face.

This will make the next few floors much easier.

He removed his torn, battle-worn coat and fastened the cloak around his shoulders. As he exited the ruined castle, the space around him warped, and he teleported directly to the third floor.

A system message appeared.

[Congratulations on reaching the Third Floor. The Tower commends your bravery.]

The moment Alex arrived, he noticed dozens of players already present. His eyes swept across the bustling area.

Looks like I spent far too long fighting Velkar.

Whispers followed him as he walked.

Not because of who he was—but because of what he looked like.

Bone-white hair.

Abyssal black eyes pierced by stark white irises.

A black cloak flowing behind him.

And most of all—the massive scythe resting against his back.

A warrior clad in armor leaned toward a robed mage and whispered,

"Isn't that Wraith? The one who destroyed the church on the first floor?"

The murmurs only grew louder as Alex passed through the crowd without acknowledging them.
