Kelvin noticed it first.
He brought it to Satou on the fourth month.
"The administrative documentation," he said. "The formal records. The settlers have been writing it in."
Satou looked at the documents Kelvin had brought.
In the field for origin or location or home settlement, people had been writing the same thing for weeks.
Not "the settlement."
A name.
He looked at it.
'Where did it come from,' he thought.
He asked Kelvin.
"I'm not certain," Kelvin said. "The earliest instance I've found is in the delivery log from three months ago. Someone wrote it in the receiving record. Then it appears in a patrol report the same week." He paused. "It spread through the settlement's documentation over the following month without anyone announcing it."
Satou looked at the name in the documents.
At the specific sound of it.
He said it to himself.
