Chapter 52 - "The Arrow Points to Saitama."

Satania replied to Max:

"I just went out—I was about to buy something to eat."

Max : "Don't tell me it's pineapple buns again?"

Satania: "You guessed right."

Max : "Seriously, Satania, what's with you and those pineapple buns?"

Satania: "Of course I love them! They're the best!"

Yeah, she really loved pineapple buns—the texture, the sweetness, the smell. Especially when they were fresh out of the oven.

Why she loved them so much? Probably because the very first bread she ate after coming from the Demon World to the Human World was a pineapple bun.

To her, pineapple buns were her "first love."

Max: "Alright then, just watch out for that dog. Don't let it steal your bun again."

"!!!"

The moment Satania saw that message, her expression changed instantly. She glanced around with sharp, wary eyes—left, right, scanning every corner like a soldier on the battlefield.

Then—

"Woof!"

A sudden bark rang out.

"Masaka!?"

Satania froze and spun around in panic—only to see a dog coming from around the corner. It was on a leash.

"Phew, thank goodness."

Crisis averted. She let out a long breath of relief.

For a second, she thought it was that wretched "angel's dog."

"Wait a sec…"

Something clicked in her mind. She hurriedly started typing:

"Max, listen to me—"

Meanwhile, on the other end—

"An angel, huh…"

Max leaned back, reading Satania's messages thoughtfully.

She'd met an angel at school.

But according to Satania, that angel wasn't anything like the image of one. More like… a demon.

Always late. Playing games during class. Doodling all over her textbooks. Leaving half-finished drinks around—once even spilling juice all over the hallway.

For someone who was supposed to be an angel, she was doing some serious S-rank demon-level stuff.

Still, an angel was an angel.

And angels and demons were born enemies.

As a self-proclaimed "future Great Demon Lord," Satania didn't hesitate for a second—she'd decided that angel was her natural rival.

She'd even gathered intel.

The angel's name was Gabriel Tenma White.

And she was actually in the same class as Satania.

Satania just hadn't realized it before because Gabriel skipped class all the time.

But now that she knew?

She'd already sworn to defeat her fated rival.

Reading all this, Max had a strange look on his face.

Max: "Satania, maybe… you should just give up? How about trying to be friends with that Gabriel instead?"

Satania: "Ha! Friends with an angel? I'm a demon, Max. You just don't get it."

Max: "Oh? So you do get it, huh?"

Satania: "Heh, of course I do!

Max: "Then good luck."

Satania: "Don't worry, I'll totally crush that angel Gabriel! Hahaha (ˉ▽ˉ~)!"

"…"

Max stared at the message, and for a moment he could see her—hands on hips, laughing like a maniac.

And every single time she laughed like that… something bad usually happened to her afterward.

Time slipped by quietly.

Max was sprawled out on the living room couch, scrolling on his phone while chatting.

Satania.Yumiko Miura.Utaha Kasumigaoka.Sonoko Machida…

About half an hour later—

Satania messaged again:

"Ugh that stupid angel's dog stole another pineapple bun!

Max : "…"

He didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. He felt bad for her—but he also couldn't help finding it funny.

He chuckled softly and replied:

"Don't worry, next time I see that dog, I'll teach it a lesson for you. Just wait—I'll make sure it learns not to mess with my Satania."

On the other side of town, in Itabashi—

"!!!"

When Satania read that last part, she froze, eyes wide, face instantly flushing bright red.

My Satania?!

Her brain went into overdrive.

"Wait… what does he mean by that?"

"Does Max… like me?"

"Was it love at first sight?!"

"If he confesses, should I say yes?"

"Do I… like him?""I mean… I don't hate him…"

Her heart raced as a dozen thoughts spun through her head like fireworks.

Then—ding!—another message from Max popped up.

"Satania, how do you want me to punish that dog? Should I make it disappear forever?"

Disappear… forever?

She blinked, then pictured Max making a throat-slitting gesture.

Wait—was he talking about killing it?!

That was way too cruel!

That was the kind of thing only an SS-rank demon would do! If she let that happen, she'd be kicked out of the Demon Realm for sure!

So she quickly typed back:

"No, no, that's way too brutal!""Just scare it a little! I just want that angel's mutt to know not to mess with the future Great Demon Lord again!"

After all, it was just a bun.

No need to take its life over it.

Max couldn't help but grin.

Max: "Haha, relax, I was just joking."

"If I ever run into that dog, I'll just spook it a bit—make sure it never dares steal your pineapple bun again."

Satania exhaled deeply when she saw his reply.

So it was a joke.

She knew it—she'd only known Max for a week, but he didn't seem like the kind of guy who'd kill a dog over bread.

Satania: "Thanks, Max!"

Her face lit up with a happy smile.

After chatting with him, her mood had completely turned around.

The frustration from losing another bun? Gone.

Night quietly swallowed the last traces of dusk.

Day slipped away, and the world sank into evening.

Far out in the uninhabited mountains of eastern Fukushima—

Inside an invisible barrier, faint blue ripples shimmered through the air as a figure suddenly appeared.

She was around 1.5 meters tall, with a cute, delicate face, emerald-green eyes, and orange-tinted hair tied into twin tails with a red ribbon.

A tiny, cartoonish bat perched on her left shoulder.

She was wearing a school uniform.

Pulling out her phone, she opened her contacts, hesitated for a moment, then closed it and brought up a map.

A second later, she vanished.

Half an hour later, the air rippled again.

Another figure appeared—this time a girl with black hair and crimson eyes, her face pale as snow, features sharp and refined.

Her dark hair was tied loosely with bands behind her head, and she wore a long coat with a shawl draped over it.

She pulled out a small, flat, oval-shaped stone—

Four arrows etched into it pointed north, south, east, and west. In the center, a single drop of blood gleamed faintly.

She poured a little demonic energy into it, and one of the arrows began to glow red.

Locking onto the direction, she disappeared again in an instant.

The arrow's point led straight toward—

Saitama. Or perhaps… Tokyo.
