After getting to Miss Kelly's apartment, the elevator ride back up to her floor felt brief, the digital floor indicator ticking silently up to her level.
Liam stepped out onto the plush hallway carpet and walked straight down to Miss Kelly's door, knocking three firm times.
The door swung open instantly, as if she had been standing on the other side waiting for his footfalls.
Miss Kelly looked up at him, her face tight with anxiety, her fingers clutching the hem of her loose singlet. "Liam! What happened? How did it go? Did she... did she say she was going to the board?"
Liam stepped inside, letting the door click shut behind him. He took in her pale, stressed expression before offering a calm, reassuring smirk.
"She promised she won't say a single word," Liam said smoothly, walking past her into the living room. "She told me she loves you way too much as a teacher to ever get you into trouble."
