[Carter Mansion — Morning]
The news arrived quietly.
Melissa was the first to receive the call, her eyes widening before softening into something bright and almost teary.
"They are registering the marriage today," she said softly. "Alexander and Evelyn."
Ursula, seated near the window with her tea, lifted her gaze at once. For a moment, she said nothing, then a slow, approving smile touched her lips.
"That girl," Ursula murmured. "She knows when to move forward."
Melissa smiled. "She does."
Gregory didn't respond.
He stood near the dining table, hands braced against the back of a chair, his brow furrowed deeply.
"A registered marriage?" he said finally. "Just like that?"
Melissa turned to him. "Greg—"
"I am not saying I don't trust Alexander," Gregory interrupted, his voice controlled but tight. "I do, I trust him with my daughter. But the police are still investigating."
Ursula watched him carefully now.
