Shinichi felt utterly wronged. This wasn't what he intended at all.
"It's a misunderstanding, Ran!"
Unable to push away the fallen angel clinging to him, Shinichi shouted, desperate to prove his innocence.
The fallen angel in his arms turned a cold glare toward Rias Gremory. "Rias Gremory, I was planning to deal with you later, but since you're here, this is perfect."
Releasing Shinichi, she summoned a spear of light with a flick of her wrist.
"Die!"
With a swift motion, she hurled the spear at Rias with blistering speed.
A sharp whistle pierced the air.
The spear of light reached Rias in an instant.
For demons, an angel's light was akin to poison—capable of leaving scars or even killing if it struck true.
Facing the assault, Rias raised her hand, conjuring layers of defensive magic circles.
Each circle the spear pierced diminished its size. After breaching seven layers, it vanished into the air.
"Not bad," the fallen angel sneered. "But this is our turf. Die!"
Spreading her wings, she summoned a barrage of light spears aimed at Rias.
Rias didn't back down. Her demonic power surged, summoning magic circles of her own to counterattack.
Morpheus cast a protective barrier around Ran and Yukiko Kudo.
As for Sonoko, she'd inherited enough of his power to handle the shockwaves. If she couldn't, she'd be a disappointment.
True to form, Sonoko deflected the residual energy with ease.
The Kudo father and son weren't so lucky. The shockwaves from the clash sent them crashing into the wall, bruised and battered.
Fortunately, they weren't in mortal danger.
Seeing this, Ran and Yukiko felt a mix of heartache and grim satisfaction.
Since the Kudos vanished, the two women hadn't slept, consumed by worry over their safety.
But now, seeing them cavorting with fallen angels, their concern turned to disillusionment.
While they lost sleep, the Kudos were apparently having the time of their lives.
It was infuriating.
Yukiko's anger boiled over. She wanted to march up to Yusaku and let him feel her wrath.
Back in America, he'd often mingled with women at social events, but she trusted he'd never stray.
Those women couldn't compare to her.
Yusaku wasn't blind—why settle for less when he had her?
But today, her faith shattered. These weren't ordinary women.
They were fallen angels.
Sure, Yukiko was beautiful, but compared to an angel? There was a gap.
And the title of "fallen angel" carried a certain allure.
As a mere actress, how could she compete with a beautiful, powerful fallen angel?
She couldn't.
In that moment, Yukiko was gripped by fear, frustration, and fury.
Ran's feelings differed. She wasn't angry or afraid, just deeply disappointed and hurt.
She and Shinichi were childhood friends. Though their relationship was undefined, she'd always believed they'd end up together.
Now, she saw how naive she'd been.
Love was far more complicated than she'd imagined.
Noticing Ran's pain, Sonoko hurried to comfort her.
Morpheus, meanwhile, paid no mind to the women's emotions.
He was far more interested in the battle between Rias and the fallen angels.
A fight between women was far more entertaining than their dRaama.
Besides, Ran and Yukiko hadn't even confronted the Kudos yet.
It wasn't worth his attention.
Boom!
A series of explosions rocked the air like a tidal wave, the shockwaves slamming into the walls.
The battle between Rias and the fallen angels reached a fever pitch.
Despite their combined assault, the two fallen angels were outmatched.
These weren't notable fallen angels—just low-tier, two-winged ones, far inferior to Rias, a high-ranking devil of the House of Gremory.
Though young, Rias was an upper-class demon.
She might struggle against elite fallen angels, but these two were no challenge.
As the fight wore on, Rias gained the upper hand, effortlessly suppressing them.
Realizing their defeat, the fallen angels schemed to take hostages and flee.
One scanned the room, her gaze landing on Morpheus.
With a glance at her companion to stall Rias, she lunged, aiming to grab Morpheus's throat.
Rias was stunned. Were fallen angels this bold now, attacking a god?
Then she realized—they didn't know Morpheus or his power, which explained their audacity.
She nearly laughed.
This wasn't just underestimating him—it was like kicking a titanium wall.
Suicidal.
Morpheus, mildly exasperated, thought, Do I look that weak?
This fallen angel dared to attack him? Fine. She'd chosen her fate.
With a snap of his fingers, an invisible force blasted outward, striking the fallen angel and sending her flying.
Like a cannonball, she crashed into her companion.
Both slammed into the church wall, collapsing in a heap, coughing up blood.
The impact left them dazed and gravely injured.
Regaining their senses, they stared at Morpheus in disbelief.
They couldn't fathom being defeated so instantly.
