Morpheus nodded. "First meeting. So, what's your purpose in finding me, Miss Shiki?"
Void Shiki replied, "It's about the future you saw."
"The one with a hundred spirits roaming in daylight."
"Yes."
Void Shiki nodded, her expression grave. "This isn't an ordinary future. It's the beginning of everything going wrong."
"It sounds worse than I thought," Morpheus said.
In the future of Resident Evil, Void Shiki hadn't appeared.
"Exactly," She confirmed, nodding. "The hundred spirits roaming in daylight is just the start. The truly catastrophic and apocalyptic future comes after. This is far more serious than you imagine."
Morpheus asked, "Do you know who's responsible for this grim future?"
Void Shiki said, "It's not one person."
"What?" Morpheus blinked, caught off guard.
"It's not a single mastermind," She explained. "This disastrous future is the result of many people's actions, some of whom don't even realize they're contributing to the world's destruction."
"Their every move adds fuel to the fire of this terrible future."
"Ultimately, it leads to the world's complete annihilation."
Good grief. The world itself was heading toward destruction?
That was beyond horrifying.
Morpheus frowned. "From what you're saying, it sounds like there's a conspiracy at play."
So many people, unknowingly or not, pushing the world toward ruin.
It was too coincidental.
And when coincidences piled up, they stopped being coincidences.
"Exactly. There's definitely a conspiracy," Void Shiki nodded without hesitation. "An unseen force is meticulously orchestrating the world's destruction."
"As for who's behind it or why, I don't know."
"They're hidden too deeply."
Void Shiki sighed. Though connected to the Root, capable of incredible feats, she wasn't omnipotent.
She couldn't snap her fingers and save the world.
To do that, they'd need to unite every possible ally.
And the man before her, Morpheus, was the greatest force needed to save the world.
No one else came close.
"I see," Morpheus said, his gaze sharp. "You came to me tonight to enlist my help in saving the world, didn't you?"
Void Shiki nodded. "Correct. I believe you wouldn't stand by and watch the world fall to ruin."
Morpheus admitted she was right.
Even if the world were destroyed, he could survive in his Light Dimension.
But if possible, he wanted to save this world.
He'd grown quite comfortable here and had no desire to move to another.
"So, what should we do?" Morpheus asked. Void Shiki knew far more than he did.
She replied, "Since the force destroying the world is so well-hidden, our options are limited. To avoid tipping them off, we need to counter their moves as they come."
"You mean, like meeting force with force, obstacle with solution?"
"Precisely," She nodded, looking at him like a promising student.
Morpheus grimaced. "That's so passive."
Void Shiki sighed. "No choice. We haven't caught them in the act yet, so this is the only way to thwart them."
Morpheus felt a twinge of frustration.
Then, a spark of inspiration hit him. "Let me ask—if this unknown enemy is trying to destroy the world, was the Resident Evil incident part of their plan?"
Void Shiki's face lit up with a radiant smile, like a hundred flowers blooming. "You've finally caught on,"
"Yes, the Resident Evil incident was a prelude to the world's destruction. But you stopped that plan."
Morpheus frowned, puzzled. "If you knew it was part of their scheme, why didn't you intervene?"
She gave him a sly, half-smile. "Who says I didn't?"
"You did intervene?"
Morpheus furrowed his brow. He hadn't encountered Void Shiki during the Resident Evil incident.
How could she claim she'd acted?
But he knew Void Shiki wasn't one to bluff or make empty claims.
If she said she'd intervened, she had.
There must be something he'd overlooked.
Morpheus's mind raced, combing through the Resident Evil incident from start to finish.
Then, it clicked—a critical detail.
He'd learned of the impending Umbrella crisis through Miko, who foresaw a future where even yokai couldn't escape infection.
But he hadn't known the outbreak's origin: the Blacklight Virus in Takanotsu City's water supply.
Then, a woman appeared—a woman with memories from the future.
Saeko.
Thanks to her, Morpheus learned the crisis stemmed from Takanotsu City's tainted water supply, allowing him to purify the Blacklight Virus and avert the catastrophe.
But the question was: why did Saeko Busujima have memories from the future?
Initially, Morpheus hadn't thought much of it.
As a transmigrator himself, familiar with countless穿越 and rebirth stories, he'd accepted her situation without question.
But now, Void Shiki's words made it clear.
"Saeko Busujima's rebirth was your doing?" Morpheus asked.
Void Shiki shook her head. "She didn't reborn. I implanted a fragment of her future memories into her mind, making her believe she'd been reborn."
"She only received a portion of those memories."
"They were so vivid, she thought she'd truly come back from the future."
Morpheus couldn't help but give a thumbs-up. As expected of Void Shiki—capable of such a feat.
Suddenly, another thought struck him. "This time, with the future being blocked, was that because of you too?"
