"So they are called Hunters," she repeated softly, humming as she turned the word over in her mind. Remembering the warning Hades had given Aestus, and taking in the endless white field of snow that felt unnaturally alive, as though moved by something beyond mere weather, she pursed her lips in thought. "Is that why he's hiding?"
Hades glanced back at her, extending his hand once more, this time waiting for her to take it. She did so eagerly, her fingers slipping into his without hesitation, and as she took a step forward she noticed him give a slight nod.
"Because of the town he killed?" she asked again. Hades nodded once more. "How long ago was it?"
"You're interested?" His tone carried a faint edge, sharpened just enough to matter, though there was no way Evangeline could have noticed it. Not when her attention was elsewhere.
