Chapter 78 - Did you enjoy it?

They all raised their cups—even Lisa with her small mug of milk—and the simple gesture filled the dining room with warmth and love. For a moment, surrounded by his family's genuine affection and pride, Kael could almost forget the darkness that lurked at the edges of his new life.

After the hearty meal, Kael excused himself to his room, claiming he needed rest after the eventful night. He quickly opened the door and stepped inside, closing it softly behind him.

There, as usual, lying gracefully on his bed was the familiar figure of Nyx, completely engrossed in her book.

She still wore that same alluring nightwear he had stole from his parents' room. But today, his focus was anywhere but there.

He found himself studying her face instead, the serene concentration as she read, the way her green hair cascaded over the pillow. He didn't actually know who Nyx truly was, where she had come from, or what her ultimate purpose might be. But he knew with absolute certainty that she had given him another chance at life.

If not for her intervention, for the unique power she had granted him, he would have been exactly the same as Arthur—trapped by mediocrity, complaining against a system that favored the naturally gifted, growing bitter and desperate enough to make terrible choices.

Even now, the only real difference between them was that Kael had Nyx's blessing while Arthur had to beg scraps from necromancers.

Noticing his presence, Nyx looked up from her book with that familiar, mischievous smile that could make hearts skip beats.

"Well, well," she purred, setting the book aside and stretching alluringly on the bed, the movement causing the silk to shift in very distracting ways. "Look who has returned from his grand adventure. I sensed quite a bit of... excitement... from you last night."

She sat up gracefully. "Come here, my dear Kael. I'm curious to hear about your purple awakening. Though I suspect there's more to discuss than just magical talent, hmm?"

Her eyes sparkled with knowing amusement, and she patted the bed beside her.

But instead of his usual flustered response to her teasing, Kael simply walked forward and dropped to one knee beside the bed, bowing his head respectfully.

"Thank you," he said quietly, his voice carrying genuine gratitude and reverence. "For everything you've given me. For this second chance."

The unexpected sincerity seemed to surprise Nyx, her playful expression softening into something more genuine as she regarded the young man kneeling before her.

She brought her hands gently to his head, her fingers threading through his hair. The moment her skin made contact, Kael felt a familiar tingling sensation as her power flowed through the connection.

Instantly, the memories of the previous night began playing in her mind like vivid scenes. She witnessed his moment of triumph during the purple light awakening, felt his terror and determination during the encounter at Henrik's shop, and observed with fascination his cold, calculating confrontation with Arthur.

Her expression shifted through a range of emotions as she absorbed each memory.

"Interesting," she murmured, her fingers still gently ruffling his hair. "Very interesting indeed."

She saw how he had destroyed Henrik's puppet with concentrated mana, witnessed his protective instincts toward Aren and the sleeping villagers, and most intriguingly, observed the battle where he had turned Arthur's own moral corruption against him.

"You've learned much in a single night," Nyx said softly. "About power, about the nature of those who would abuse it, and about your own... capabilities."

Her eyes glinted with approval.

"Tell me, my dear," she said, tilting his chin up to meet her gaze, "how did it feel? That moment when you realized you could bend him to your will?"

"It felt good," Kael said simply, his voice carrying a honesty that might have disturbed his earlier, more innocent self.

Nyx's smile widened at his admission. There was no judgment in her expression, only understanding and perhaps a hint of satisfaction at seeing him embrace this darker aspect of himself.

"Good," she purred approvingly. "Denying what you truly are serves no one. Power without the will to use it is merely wasted potential."

Kael looked up at her, his eyes holding a intensity that hadn't been there before his confrontation with Arthur.

"I need more power," he said. "I have to give my all to this path. The world doesn't reward the weak or the hesitant, and I refuse to be either."

Nyx's expression grew more serious, though her smile remained. "Yes, you already have the determination, and you possess the lust energy that sets you apart from everyone else in this kingdom."

She leaned closer, her voice taking on an instructional tone that somehow managed to remain seductive. "But raw power without focus is chaos. You need structure, discipline, a framework to channel your abilities effectively."

Her hands moved to cup his face, her touch warm and electric. "Now all you have left to do is find a proper sword and truly become a swordsman. The combination of your lust energy enhancement with traditional bladework will create something entirely new in this world."
