Numen’s death is only the beginning.

Plucked from oblivion by Evelyn, a former human who ascended to impossible power through countless lives, stolen gifts, and accumulated divinity, Numen is hurled into the brutal Warhammer 40,000 universe as her newest source of entertainment. Most souls would shatter under the weight of such a fate. Numen bends instead.

His memories are gone, but his instincts, adaptability, stubbornness, and sarcasm remain.

He awakens in the underhive of an Imperial Hive World with no weapons, no allies, and no understanding of why a twisted System has marked him with the title “Monarch.” Weak and alone, Numen is forced to survive a labyrinth of gangs, Enforcers, ancient vaults, buried horrors, and powers far beyond anything he understands. His progression is driven by Exploits, dangerous or absurd feats that reward him with strange abilities, unwanted attention, and increasingly unsettling hints that his title is more than a joke.

Darkly humorous and often cruelly observant, the System comments on Numen’s choices while reflecting Evelyn’s interference, amusement, and growing investment. What begins as cosmic entertainment slowly becomes something more complicated as Numen adapts to violence, makes allies, claims territory, and learns that survival in the underhive is never clean.

Evelyn serves as patron, audience, tormentor, and possible future ally. Her fascination with Numen’s growth may be boredom, affection, manipulation, or something even she does not fully understand. Their relationship forms one of the central pillars of the story, balancing Numen’s sarcastic pragmatism and psychological resilience against his loneliness, moral uncertainty, and quiet horror at being watched by something powerful enough to call his suffering entertainment.

As Numen rises from scavenger to leader, the “Monarch” designation begins to unfold. Ancient assets stir. Forgotten enemies take notice. Buried systems recognize him. The underhive becomes more than a prison; it becomes the first board in a game stretching far beyond one world.

This story blends grimdark horror, underhive survival, absurd System progression, dark comedy, faction-building, and cosmic mystery. Numen’s journey is one of persistence, adaptation, identity, and power, as he struggles to decide whether he is a pawn in Evelyn’s endless diversion or the beginning of something the galaxy may one day fear.

AI Disclosure

This fanfic is AI-assisted. I use AI tools heavily for brainstorming, drafting, rewriting, expanding scenes, polishing prose, and refining dialogue. However, the premise, story direction, character choices, chapter outlines, edits, continuity decisions, and final approval are guided by me.

I started this story because I wanted to read the kind of fanfic I kept waiting for other people to update. Over time, AI tools became part of the writing process, helping me turn my ideas, prompts, outlines, and revisions into finished chapters. I still direct where the story goes, what stays, what changes, and what gets posted.

In short: this is a non-commercial, AI-assisted fan project made for fun and shared with readers who enjoy the same kind of chaos.
