She thought angrily, and the man, having received the answer from her eyes, did not press further.
Instead, he smiled, gave her some water, and then sat at the desk opposite her, reading without paying her any more attention. He let her lie in bed, dizzy with hunger, limbs weak, without the strength even to bite her tongue and end it all.
The hunger hit her brain again and again.
And that night, the kind-hearted man did not torment her. But the next day, all she received was still only water, no food.
She was so starving she couldn't stand it anymore; several times she thought of giving in. Thinking of her compliant husband made her hesitate, but she was truly too hungry and felt like she was about to die, yet death wouldn't come.
And in the morning, it was again the man who personally fed her water, with the same gentle demeanor, yet his words were chilling.
"How's your consideration? My patience is limited, you should think it over carefully."
