Even though Sylvia Langley spoke with certainty, the not-so-naïve Nina Sinclair detected some uncertainty. She asked again, "Does Cyrus know you're planning to help with our engagement?"
Sylvia's smile faded slightly, not expecting the girl to be so meticulous. After pondering for a moment, she glossed over it, saying, "Of course he knows! Jules has always known he's meant to marry you. I told him years ago."
Seeing the Sinclairs' worried faces turn to delight, Sylvia held Nina's hand and consoled, "Why do you think Old Master Forrester spoke with your grandfather? It's because he sees you as the Forrester granddaughter-in-law, that's why the old man made such a demand. Don't you think?"
However, speaking of Old Master Forrester's demands, the Sinclairs were stumped again.
Nina hesitantly asked, "But is Grandpa serious? If I don't get a PhD from Harvard, will he stop liking me?"
