Chapter 65 - WOP Chapter 65: Swiss-system Selection

Originally, he felt that he had a good chance of competing for a position.

But now it seemed that Yhwach might have already chosen six candidates long ago.

No matter how strong he was, he might not be selected.

They could eliminate him early just by finding a random excuse or arranging a poor schedule for him.

He suddenly lost his motivation.

Forget it, let's leave it to fate.

He had come to terms with it; after all, he had Yhwach's blood in his possession, which he could have Vegapunk research thoroughly in One Piece.

When the time comes, he might even be able to awaken a Schrift without relying on Yhwach.

Vegapunk mastered the research of the 'Blueprint of Life,' also known as Lineage Factors, which could not only create androids but also produce near-perfect avatars.

Later on, he created the 'Seraphim' to replace the Shichibukai, which not only cloned the original's traits but even added Lunarian genes, giving them near-invincible defense.

With Vegapunk's technology, he might be able to research the mechanism of schrifts based on Yhwach's blood.

Thinking this way, he relaxed a lot more.

"Are you researching your opponents?"

Suddenly, Liltotto's voice came from behind him.

Beltz quickly turned around and saw Liltotto together with the Girl Group Members.

When the others saw these five approaching, they also quickly moved out of the way.

"Ah... yes!"

Beltz replied, "Lady Liltotto, why are you here?"

"I wanted to come," Candice said. "After all, we'll be colleagues in the future, so of course I have to inspect the goods in advance."

"You just purely wanted to come and see if there are any handsome guys, right?" Bambi said with a look of disdain.

"You boy-crazy, big-chested woman!"

"What did you say?!" Candice said angrily upon hearing this. "Bambi, what right do you have to say that?!"

"Of course, it's because that's exactly what you're thinking," Meninas said airily from the side.

"Even Meninas is saying that..." Candice looked very hurt.

They say two women make a drama, and now there are five... oh no, four women, and their drama was just too much.

Beltz seriously suspected that these five must have at least five private group chats among them.

This friendship was truly touching!

"How is it?"

Liltotto ignored them and just looked at the battle further ahead, while saying, "Do you have confidence?"

"With six spots, I think I shouldn't have any problems."

Regardless of his internal suspicions, Beltz couldn't show weakness now.

Liltotto's memory had been edited, and she had forgotten everything about cooperating with him, so he couldn't discuss it with her now.

"So confident, little brother," Candice said, then immediately looked like she couldn't stand it.

"Why are they all old men?"

Currently fighting on the field were the avatars of the Gorosei.

It was clear that even they didn't seem to know these old men were avatars of the monsters that had come to destroy the Empire not long ago.

In fact, they had only just noticed these five people.

They didn't even know these old men were newcomers!

Well, in terms of familiarity with ordinary Quincy, how could the knights of the Sternritter compare to these common soldiers?

Beltz sighed. "It's said that Lord Haschwalth personally arranged for them. Don't be fooled by their aged appearance; they're very strong. They might even be my toughest opponents on the road to competition."

"...They are indeed unusual," Bambi said strangely. "They seem a bit different from Quincy... wait, why have I never seen them before?"

While it was impossible to be familiar with all ordinary Quincy, most Quincy were actually handsome men and beautiful women.

And there were very few old men like this.

The trait of being an old man was very distinct; if they had existed before, even if they hadn't seen them, they should have heard of them, right?

After all, The Bambies were newcomers among the Sternritter, and looking at the age of these old men, they must be at least five or six hundred years old.

So they should have heard of them more or less.

"Arranged by Haschwalth?"

Bambi thought about what Beltz had said and couldn't help but say, "Why does it feel so strange?"

"What's so strange? Why don't you just go and ask him?" Candice clicked her tongue.

Ask him?

Bambi thought of Haschwalth's year-round expressionless poker face, and the corners of her mouth twitched. "Never mind. Last New Year, when I asked him for a red envelope, he lectured me for ages."

After speaking, she waved her hand and said, "Let's go, let's go, this is boring."

"Goodbye, Lady Liltotto."

Beltz naturally wouldn't leave with them; he stayed behind to continue observing the Gorosei's battles.

Since he wasn't in One Piece, he wasn't short of a few days.

Instead of training, it was better to observe his future opponents carefully here.

This observation lasted for a whole week.

The strength of the Gorosei avatars was increasing rapidly, and they kept a low profile, or rather, they would disappear as soon as a match ended. No one knew where they went, making it impossible to even try and talk to them.

And starting from today, the competition finally reached the third round.

There were a total of sixteen participants in the third round.

Most were lieutenants of other Sternritter, plus the five Gorosei avatars who had passed the second round of assessment.

Six positions were to be selected from the sixteen people, using a points-based round-robin system, specifically the method known as the swiss-system, to determine the top six.

In the so-called swiss-system, a random draw in the first round determines the 1-0 and 0-1 groups. Then, internal draws within those groups determine the 2-0, 1-1, and 0-2 groups.

These three groups have internal draws again to determine the final 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, and 0-3 groups.

The 2-1 and 1-2 groups determine the 3-1 and 2-2 groups, and the 2-2 group then determines the 3-2 group.

Losing three matches means failure, while winning three matches means advancement.

Calculated this way, there would be two people in the 3-0 group, three people in the 3-1 group, and three people in the 3-2 group.

So in reality, eight people would be selected in the end.

But only six of these eight people could become Sternritter.

Of course, there were arrangements for the remaining two people as well.

They were to be sent to the Human World!

These two would be responsible for finding the location of the attackers!

To be honest, after hearing this news, Beltz was very surprised, but also somewhat happy.

Because this way, even if he didn't become a Sternritter, it would still be a good thing.

Either he gets a Schrift, or he gets 'freedom'!

Yes, if he went to the Human World himself, he could escape the Wandenreich, and then whatever he did would be much more convenient!

He would no longer have to act as cautiously as he did in the Wandenreich!

Moreover, there were many good things in the world of Bleach. The Wandenreich was a very barren place, but there were many resources outside!
