Chapter 224 - Chapter 224: The Origin of Mōryō

"Rumble!!"

Thunder flashed across the sky, blue lightning descending like divine punishment.

With a single strike, mountains collapsed and the earth split apart; all the terracotta soldiers, along with Yomi, perished together.

When everything finally calmed down, a man and a woman landed at the spot—it was Kairen and Miroku.

The high priestess held onto Kairen's arm and asked, "Was that bad guy destroyed?"

Kairen nodded. "He's already turned to ashes in the lightning!"

Miroku let out a sigh of relief, then looked toward the distant shrine.

"Let's go repair the seal there!"

Kairen nodded.

He scooped the high priestess up in a princess carry and slowly leapt toward the shrine sealing Mōryō.

...

In just a few breaths, the two arrived in front of the shrine.

"Whoo—whoo—whoo—"

The wind carried by the thunder swept past the wind chimes above the pavilion, producing a pleasant ringing sound.

As Miroku walked toward the shrine gate, more than twenty terracotta soldiers suddenly burst out of the surrounding ground.

It was Mōryō's power—he didn't want Miroku to repair the seal gap he had painstakingly worn open.

Kairen leapt in front of Miroku.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

Several massive fireballs shot from Kairen's mouth, instantly annihilating the terracotta soldiers.

Then Kairen activated the Byakugan and looked inside.

There was an enormous mass of black chakra, compressed within a tiny space, like an octopus-like monster with many tentacles.

Miroku moved closer to Kairen.

"Protect me while we go in—we'll repair the seal!"

Kairen shook his head. "No need to repair it!"

Miroku exclaimed, "Why wouldn't we repair it?!"

Kairen said decisively, "Because I'm going to break the seal!"

"Ding!"

"Miroku has generated 100 shock points toward you and says: So you were the undercover one."

"Mōryō has generated 500 excitement points toward you and says you're a good person."

Miroku clutched Kairen's clothes and kept asking,

"Why? Do you know how terrifying Mōryō is? He almost destroyed the entire ancient world!"

"So what? That was the distant past. Back then he could only bully primitive people holding stone axes. Times are different now."

"Any one of the powers I carry—I could casually crush him."

Kairen replied indifferently.

He walked forward, and when Miroku tried to stop him from behind, she only heard Kairen say:

"Where there is a seal, there is an unsealing. The most effective method is to completely destroy it—I told you that before."

"I'll shoulder your responsibility. Let me bring the destiny of the high priestess to an end!"

Miroku looked at Kairen's back—broad and solid, giving off a powerful sense of protection.

She recalled the power Kairen possessed.

Why had she always ignored the world-destroying power within Kairen's body?!

Maybe it was because he felt too close, making it hard to believe a human could possess such energy. Or perhaps she simply didn't want to see that side of him.

Ancient totems carved into the old wooden doors depicted the story of the Land of Demons' origins.

How the high priestess defeated the great demon, how she split Mōryō apart…

Kairen didn't linger on them. He pushed open the shrine doors.

"Creak!"

As the door opened, an icy chill from hell instantly washed over him.

Gusts of sinister wind blew through, as if filled with zombies and malevolent spirits.

A voice brimming with seductive allure echoed by Kairen's ear:

"Yes! That's it—open the seal. Then you can become the emperor of the human world and open a huge harem."

It was Mōryō's voice. The seal had already worn down to the point where it could penetrate the material world.

Kairen was shocked—Mōryō had actually seen through his thoughts.

Mōryō snorted. "The high priestess and I were originally one. Don't underestimate my eyes!"

"And your current thoughts show that you like that high priestess. Am I wrong?"

Kairen nodded. "Yes! That's exactly what I'm thinking. Mōryō, can you help me?"

"Open the seal first. Once I'm out, I'll control her and then reward her to you."

Kairen was a bit puzzled by Mōryō's lewd words.

"You demon thing… you really know your stuff?"

Mōryō chuckled softly.

"I am the evil heart of the first-generation high priestess. Tell me—if a woman lives alone for many years, won't her mind develop cracks?"

Kairen thought for a moment.

"The first-generation high priestess was also a woman. Long-term loneliness cast a shadow over her heart, and that's how I was born."

"Th-this—"

Kairen felt as though he had just heard something earth-shattering.

Such a grand, epic legend—once the truth was revealed by Mōryō—somehow became… dirty.

Kairen turned to glance at the high priestess.

Mōryō's words only echoed in Kairen's mind; no one else heard them. If the high priestess had heard this, the orally passed-down high priestess legend would have completely collapsed.

In truth, myths and legends are often absurd—only when you touch the truth do you realize that gods and humans alike… don't really do humane things.

Mōryō continued tempting him.

"Child! Come—just unseal it, and every woman in this world will be yours…"

Kairen shook his head. "Even if I want that, gaining all of them would mean they lose their own individuality."

Mōryō said with frustration, "Why do you care so much?!"

Kairen nodded. "You make a good point. Seeing how eloquent you are, I'll help you unseal it!"

Mōryō subtly let out a breath—finally, he had tricked this kid.

His seductive voice continued.

"Yes! That's it. Open the seal, and the human world will be yours to do as you please."

Kairen slowly walked toward the stone statue of the first-generation high priestess.

"Smash the statue. With your power, it shouldn't be a problem!"

The stone statue sealing Mōryō wasn't ordinary stone—it was empowered by the strength of generations of high priestess.

Yomi and dozens of others couldn't do anything to it, showing just how sturdy it was.

Kairen nodded, then suddenly decided to toy with Mōryō.

He stretched out his hand—then pulled it back.

Mōryō grew impatient. "What are you doing? Open the seal! Don't you want all the women in the world?"

Kairen replied casually, "Don't rush. I'm gathering my strength!"

"Hurry up! I've been sealed for thousands of years—I can't wait any longer!"
