Within the military formation there were roughly several hundred catapults. The commander held the battle-flag and swung it downward: "Fire!"
Hundreds of stones as large as grizzly bears were launched upward, tearing through the air, whistling as they shot toward Kairen.
Kairen said to the shadow clones beside him, "Make sure you capture every single one of my movements!"
Shan nodded. "Boss, don't worry! We're a professional team, we'll definitely keep up with your speed."
Kairen's lips curved with a bold smile. He took a sharp breath, then like a streak of fiery red light he flew forward, instantly piercing through the dozen incoming boulders.
The stones exploded, booming loudly.
Kairen, like a red arc, plunged into the military formation.
A squad of warriors holding long halberds spotted Kairen and shouted loudly,
"He's here! Everyone, together!"
"Come! Let me see just how well you can dance!"
"Arrogant! Die! Damn ninja!"
The killing cries rang out. Over twenty halberds and spears immediately enveloped Kairen.
Kairen lightly stepped on the tip of a spear and easily leapt over ten meters high.
As he landed, a team of warriors wielding katana rushed toward him.
"Draw-slash!"
These warriors had steeped themselves in swordsmanship for many years. Their blades flashed like countless threads, cold as ice, weaving a web that passed straight through Kairen's body.
"Clang!"
"The warrior dealt 100 points of damage to you!"
They left at least twenty wounds on Kairen's body—bloody and horrifying.
Their leader sneered and sheathed his blade.
"So that's all! Why gather so many people just to deal with a tiny ninja?"
"Is that so?!" A voice exploded out of thin air.
The surrounding warriors stared at Kairen, who still wore a light smile despite being covered in wounds.
"Ninjutsu: Creation Rebirth!"
Kairen intoned lightly. Wisps of greenish smoke rose from his wounds, and in an instant every injury healed completely.
His shattered armor flashed and became whole again.
"Th-this…"
The warriors were aghast, stunned by the speed of his regeneration.
If this were another story, they would be calling Kairen a demon already, needing breathing techniques and the sun to defeat him.
"Warriors, can you keep up with my speed?" Kairen murmured, then began to move.
The army of warriors grew solemn, gripping their blades tightly.
In the blink of an eye, the red streak appeared, seizing one warrior by the neck.
With a "crack," Kairen twisted the man's neck. The warrior died without even knowing how, eyes closing immediately.
"So fast!" someone cried.
Their eyes couldn't even track Kairen's movements.
Several warriors thrust their spears at him, but Kairen grabbed one spear and swept it like a force that flattened armies.
In a blink, he swept over twenty warriors to the ground, clearing a circular space around him.
A warrior captain shouted, "Don't panic! He's only one person! We have so many—how could we not defeat him?!"
"Yeah, yeah, with so many of us, we can stomp him to death!"
The warriors regained morale and charged with their weapons.
The clash of battle boomed like thunder; heaven and earth were filled with the sound of war.
"Even if you number 100,000, so what? Can you catch the azure eagle of the heavens?"
Kairen said coldly.
He didn't even take the ninjas of the entire shinobi world seriously—let alone a group of muggles.
"Die!"
One warrior's blade scraped across Kairen's shoulder.
Kairen stepped back, then kicked him, sending him flying into the formation and knocking down over twenty warriors.
"Kill!"
A dozen more charged recklessly, their eyes full of zeal to die for their lord.
Kairen inhaled, then struck with monstrous strength—one punch turning a warrior into a mist of blood.
More and more warriors rushed forward, attempting to bury Kairen with sheer numbers.
At the rear, the daimyō of the Land of Fire frantically waved his fan, face full of excitement.
"Yes! Yes! All of you rush him—crush him!"
In an instant, a human mountain nearly ten meters tall collapsed onto Kairen.
"Eight Gates—Five Gates, OPEN!"
Kairen roared. A burst of green energy exploded from his body.
"Leaf Great Whirlwind!"
Kairen spun rapidly, forming a tornado that sucked in all the warriors crushing him and flung them away.
Kairen stood still; within five meters around him, all had fallen.
"Don't be afraid! Charge! This is the moment to earn praise from the daimyō!"
Countless warriors swarmed. Kairen watched their faces—full of zeal to die for their lord.
To show his recognition of their suicidal resolve, he chose to defeat them using only taijutsu.
Kairen steeled himself, grabbed a katana, and charged into the crowd, meeting the attacking warrior squads head-on.
His blade rose and fell. In a blink he severed one warrior's arms, then with a light slash, cut him cleanly in half.
Clashing steel echoed. Kairen was like a killing machine, endlessly cutting through the ranks.
In a blink, twenty spears and halberds stabbed into his back, piercing flesh and stirring it into a bloody mess.
But Kairen didn't even furrow his brow. Like an engine that never tired, he pressed forward, slicing off the heads of seven or eight more warriors.
In an instant, his injuries healed.
Trying to exhaust him with numbers was impossible.
Upon the wooden battlement the size of a small hill, Shan and the others saw only a blood-red path through a black sea of bodies.
The blood-path stretched straight forward, unstoppable.
"Ahhhh…"
The wails in the air never ceased, and the stench of blood on the ground grew thicker.
Kairen broke another katana.
He moved his hand, materializing a massive beheading-knife-like ninjablade made with Yang Release.
Kairen gripped the beheading blade and shot forward like a straight line.
"Hrrr-hhh…"
Horses neighed. Hundreds of warhorses charged toward Kairen.
Cavalry drew their bows, arrows piercing through Kairen's body one after another.
"Clang!"
"Warrior A dealt 30 points of damage to you!"
"Clang!"
"Warrior B dealt 40 points of damage to you!"
…
System notifications rang endlessly in Kairen's mind. He charged at the front, a whirlwind tearing apart the cavalry before him.
Kairen burst out of the formation, then turned and rushed back into the incoming black tide.
On a raised platform, the daimyō of the Land of Fire and the warrior general stood watching, shocked at Kairen's tireless slaughter.
Humans get tired—after intense exertion they must at least catch their breath. But Kairen hadn't paused for a second.
The surrounding warriors couldn't stop him at all.
The daimyō grew anxious and roared at the general,
"Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Send more men! I refuse to believe he can't be killed!"
