Chapter 5 - Clash for Profane contention

The thorny coated metal monster stood firm with anticipation; his adversary, the shrouded knight..

Within the cathedral, the two stood in place with meaning one of Reverence.. the other with Umbrage...

The Thorn covered knight geared himself for battle, manifesting a thorny, quintessential sword Formed appendage to be held, mimicking the facets of a sword in one hand.

The other knight regulated his disposition, calming himself for the inclination to hold back swings that might harm himself.

...

The thorny knight dashed towards the menacing foe and in a quick successive swing... His thorn sword lookalike shattered.

and with it his head severed.

or so the knight had seen, but refused to think.

the thorn covered knight delved within his thorns for a diversion...

The [Awakened Monster] and [Fallen Devil] were at a dis-even power scaling...

The Awakened Monster would lose at this rate, for the Devil was much more powerful and even had abilities other than its natural existence.

But the Awakened Monster wasn't stupid, far from it, in fact He was saner than most of the Monsters around and instead his mind and soul had swapped locations he could think and act without the so-called aid of corruption but with it came weakness...

He couldn't control the essence of his soul manually unless his soul had connected to his mind, but then his corruption would overwhelm him, turning him barely lucid... a kind of berserker state.

The Monster couldn't use abilities on command, on the other hand, instinct? That he could achieve after all; all he had was instinct.

The Monster was more nimble than most of his fellow kind, but just because he was nimble doesn't mean he was strong.

His flaw still existed.

Damage was harsher, his muscles couldn't pull through most of the time, and he needed to supply himself and his thorns with blood... A simple request for him.

The battle raged on.

The two had been attacking each other ferociously; he had become exhausted and was nearing the ability to struggle any longer.

He decided that he would run.

But how would he be able to!? After all, he couldn't see.

There was darkness everywhere. The devil is using its ability.

Run!

The monster couldn't think properly, but he could use his own brain's compulsion to act.

So the monsters and the devils' prey and predator roles have been assigned.

The devil was going to win, and the monster was going to die...

But then the devil shuddered.

and he knelt...

The devil was poisoned...

Though not strong, the poison was doing its workings, the devil was slowing to a flagging, this would allow the thorny monster to flee; even if the poison was working, it wouldn't hold a devil for long or even for short.

So he ran, and ran, and ran... He'd run away... as far and as fast as possible.

The devil stood up and...

...

The monster was cut in half before just barely being let crawling out of the cathedral.

The monster cursed the devil many, many times; who was he to dismiss him like that!? That damned fiend and his grotesque fallen might.

The monster's malice built many times over, allowing him instinctively push against his own wounds, damaging him further with ease. He didn't care if he was dying he wasn't going to allow the world to prove him lesser to that of the devil. He was going to kill that damned devil if it was the last thing she ever did.

The monster was going to live and take revenge.

If he couldn't live as the Thorny Monster... he'd live as a demon of thorns.

He'd live, and he'd do it better than the devil!

"A-ah! I-"

The monster was attempt to empty his lungs, which were half gone, cut into a quarter by the devil of darkness.

The monster wrapped itself in its own thorns. It did so with malice, fear, and pure anger...
