Chapter 35 - Chapter - 34 : Regret

Back where the tent were, two person stood behind the bushes overseeing Sizi's tent. One was a rather familiar face and the other's face was hidden behind a black hood.

It was evening and the red rays of the Sun casted a golden glow on that familiar face, so lovely and pale with peach blossom eyes affixed on the space in front of her. The person with hood, behind her spoke, "Are you going to leave the things as it is."

At this, Baizhi turned around and fixated him with a death glare, "Who had told you to create that farce the previous night ? If not for you I wouldn't have been in this predicament."

"What did I do? Scaring those two girls? How is this even connected? You can't control your own lover. That's not my fault." The hooded man retorted each question at her.

"Shut the fuck up." Baizhi could only seethe at it.

"How long are you goin--", the hooded man again started to say something but was stopped by Baizhi. "Shhh." She pointed at front without looking at him, her palms on his shealed mouth forcing him to smell her scent.

He also glanced ahead and saw Anning coming out of her tent.

Anning just came out of the tent, maybe to confirm no one has come yet. She stretched a bit, raising her hands and bending sideways, her waist curve clearly visible through the fabric.

Baizhi's eyes were clearly glued on her every movement, not moving an inch even holding her breath so as to not reveal themselves. All the while, the hooded man's eyes just glanced for few seconds ahead, then proceeded to lock on Baizhi's tense face.

After doing a basic stretching set, Anning again went inside her tent.

Finally, Baizhi let out the breath she was holding. She turned towards the other person, but saw him coming closer to her face. Without having the time to process anything, she got swept away with him and on the ground, his hand was crawling around her waist.

"You know what, you look so hot while making that face." He whispered in her ear with a smirk, trying to make the atmosphere tense.

But Baizhi rolled her eyes at him, disgusted by the sudden touch. She lifted her leg and kicked him straight where it hurts the most. He rolled over on the ground with a hiss of pain clutching his crotch, all the smirk wiped from his face replaced by painful expression.

Baizhi ignored him completely and got up from the ground, dusting her hands off. "You better watch your mouth, otherwise this time its only a kick, next time you'll miss that area completely."

She snorted, then walked outside of the bushes towards her tent. Behind her, the man gnashed his teeth, "Let's see how much longer your attitude lasts." And then he stood up, finally overcoming the pain and vanished in thin air with a whoosh of his cloak.

Anning in her tent was lying on the bed. She had just came from outside after taking some fresh air. She had intended to check on Sizi's fever, but then decided otherwise. She just did some stretching and came back.

To be honest, she actually felt a gaze on her but there wasn't anyone outside. And the staffs were all busy in their own tents. That uneasy feeling was quite unsettling that's why she decided to remain inside.

She was just passing her time, because her phone's network wasn't working and she wasn't feeling like reading either. She already had taken a short nap and now the energy was lifting her mood.

Let's go check on our patient. After all I missed my research trip because of this.

After walking back and forth from the bed to door, then again from door to bed, she finally walked and puffed her chest to complete this mission. "Huh?"

She was surprised to see Baizhi there. Wasn't she on the trip too?

Baizhi has her head lowered, maybe thinking something, and was walking with long strides but quietly. Anning was a bit surprised to see her acting like this, cause' of course she had always seen Baizhi so composed and soft that this image was quite new.

She didn't wanted to meet her now, especially when she was on the way to check Sizi. But curiosity got better of her and she tried to greet her.

"Zizhi, hello."

Baizhi came out from her own world, startled, and greeted back, "Hi, Anning." There was a slight panic in her voice though covered properly, as if she hadn't expected her to come.

"You here? Didn't you went on the trip?" Anning asked, curiously eying her.

"Oh !.... Actually I told professor Lu that I won't be able to go. Umm..... I wasn't feeling okay." Baizhi said, smiling, like that panic was just an illusion.

"What? You okay? Why didn't you told me? What happened?" Anning asked worried, her hands automatically holding Baizhi's shoulder.

Baizhi didn't know what to say to that. She clasped the hand which was on her shoulder and chuckled at Anning, looking her in the eye with her own soft ones.

"Ani, don't worry. I'm fine. I just didn't wanted to go because..... well, you were not there too."

Anning blinked her eyes twice, "I'm sorry?" She didn't believe her ears.

Baizhi rolled her eyes, and said loudly, "YOU WEREN'T THERE SO I ALSO DIDN'T GO."

Anning went completely red, her face on flames. "Now heard it?" Baizhi asked teasingly, to which Anning nodded her head, dumfounded.

At this reaction, Baizhi couldn't help but laugh out loud, wrapping her hand around Anning's shoulders and proceeding to go to her tent, Anning in tow.

After the initial shock, Anning was blushing from her neck to cheeks, then with Baizhi's laugh came the second hand embarrassment, and after settling came the wave of regret.

Zizhi was not feeling okay and I didn't even know. How did she managed herself all on own? And I was here, but not with my Zizhi.
