Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Dragon Tomb

In a pitch-black forest, a tear suddenly opened in midair. Behind that tear was chaotic, violent void turbulence. Wu Ling's figure was gradually pushed through from the other side. Nearly sixty percent of the Magecraft arrays on his defensive Mystic Code had already broken.

"Hah... hah... hah... finally out."

Wu Ling sighed like a man who had survived a disaster. He had drifted through the void for nearly half a month. There had been no danger at all. It could even be called perfectly calm.

But precisely because nothing happened, Wu Ling had grown more and more bored.

After all, Wu Ling did not think he was the kind of character who had incidents chasing him. At the very least, he had nothing to do with the kind of plot where someone traveling through the void was injured by some random aftershock, fell into an unknown small world, then began pretending to be weak while crushing everyone.

After taking several deep breaths and gradually adjusting, Wu Ling looked back. The tear had already repaired itself.

He was not surprised. A world's structure was more exquisite than any living creature. A minor recovery ability was not worth mentioning.

Wu Ling removed the Mystic Code and began observing his surroundings.

He was currently inside a pitch-black forest filled with countless black trees. He had no idea how large the black forest was. What stood out was that even though the surrounding energy felt rather dense, there were almost no living creatures. He could not even find a single insect.

He looked up. There was no sun in the sky. In its place hung a silver-purple crescent moon.

Wu Ling did not rush to make any claims about the environment. He first released Rose. Rose sensed the surroundings briefly, then suddenly brightened with surprise.

"Oh? Oh my, the energy in this world feels quite similar to Type-Moon magical energy."

Wu Ling was still observing the black trees. Faint, strange fluctuations seemed to linger around their trunks. They appeared to be a special type of plant.

He rubbed the rough bark with his fingers. He could barely distinguish the fluctuation inside the tree. It gave him a feeling similar to a soul, but it seemed to be missing something.

Wu Ling had a rough idea. After hearing Rose's surprise, he casually asked, "So the cultivation system here is something like magic?"

Rose took out the energy conversion device while explaining.

"Not certain yet. The activity level of the energy is merely similar. For example, Spirit Power in the Soul Land world is already relatively quiet. It has to be absorbed into the body before it can be used, and the vast majority of Spirit Skills are released through Spirit Power inside the body."

"But with this world's activity level, people should be able to borrow energy directly from heaven and earth. In other words, they can probably do things similar to Magecraft arrays."

As she finished speaking, the energy conversion device, which looked like a funnel attached to a rectangular box, finished assembling. Magical energy flowed from the world into the funnel. In the box below, it gradually condensed into Spirit Power blocks familiar to Wu Ling.

"Good, good. Very smooth. Whether it is Spirit Power or magical energy, most energies are derived from world power released by the world itself. Worlds are broadly similar in most cases, so all we need to do is convert magical energy into world power, then convert world power into Spirit Power."

In simple terms, Wu Ling's body had a lock, and only a key of a certain shape, meaning a certain energy, could enter. What the device did was melt other keys into molten metal, then recast them into the shape suitable for Wu Ling.

Seeing Spirit Power blocks gradually forming, Wu Ling praised Rose, then raised a second question.

"Good. Since the energy problem is solved, we start on the second question. Which world are we in?"

"First, this place is not close to Soul Land, but it is definitely not far either."

"Second, before I approached this world, I think I saw something like black tumors on the outside of the world. Unless I am wrong, that should be some kind of plot involving extraterritorial demons."

"Third, this may be a world that practices magic."

Following Wu Ling's analysis, Rose skipped the reasoning process and stated the conclusion directly.

"If we expand the range, there would be countless possible worlds. But if we limit it to nearby worlds, then there is only one possibility: Qin Emperor."

Wu Ling nodded in agreement. That was also what he had thought.

"The point where we broke through the world barrier is special too. Based on Qin Emperor's worldview, and with such dense soul power here, even though I have forgotten most of the plot, I still remember this obvious place: the Dragon Tomb of the Dragon Race."

Of course, all of this was still only Wu Ling's conjecture. They needed practice to confirm it.

Wu Ling began walking straight in one direction. Rose stayed behind to continue producing Spirit Power blocks for emergencies. At the same time, she researched the surrounding plants and soil, and searched her memory for everything related to the Qin Emperor novel.

About an hour later, Wu Ling returned to Rose's side. He had reached the border of this region. It turned out the area was not as large as he had imagined. The endless scenery came from something like a mirror surface constantly reflecting the same scene again and again, like placing a mirror before another mirror.

Rose put away the energy conversion device, filled a glass jar with soil, and placed several trees, roots and all, into her storage ring. Then she followed Wu Ling deeper into the forest.

Wu Ling kept moving forward. After walking for about two hours, he noticed that the surrounding trees were gradually changing.

In the part of the black forest where he had entered, the trees were pure black. Now, the trees around him were shifting toward a brownish color.

Rose stopped again and stored several more large trees. Wu Ling ate a little to restore his stamina.

This distance was not enough to make Wu Ling sweat, but in a place that could not yet be confirmed completely safe, keeping his stamina full was extremely important.

After resting, Wu Ling continued forward. This time, he did not walk for very long.

As Wu Ling circled around a towering tree, the view before him suddenly opened. The forest disappeared abruptly, and what appeared before him was a plain.

Even Wu Ling, who had seen many things by now, widened his eyes in shock at the sight of that plain.

Because this was no ordinary plain. It was a plain completely covered in dragon bones.

What did he see? Bones. Bones everywhere. The bones of dragons.

The plain before him was almost entirely covered with dragon bones. The air here was ten times colder than in the black forest. The energy here was nearly a hundred times stronger than in the forest, and it had become extremely violent.

In Wu Ling's perception, the air was mixed with an enormous amount of soul energy. He could almost hear powerful souls constantly wailing inside it.

In the pitch-black sky, the silver-purple crescent moon seemed to grow even brighter.

Everything before him was astonishing: dragon bones of different sizes, overwhelming soul aura, and an atmosphere of deathly cold silence.
