Yoonyi bent her head awkwardly, not daring to meet her cousin's intimidating gaze. Her mother also remained silent, her posture rigid. The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife.
"Hey!" Haesoo snapped, her voice sharp and filled with fire. "Who are these crazy bastards?" She yelled, throwing a glance at her aunt and cousin, both of whom stayed silent.
"Hey! How dare you...?" Eun's voice trailed off, slightly annoyed at Haesoo's rude outburst.
"Excuse me, miss." Eun cleared his throat before turning to face Yoonyi, his calm demeanor contrasting Haesoo's fiery one.
Unable to contain her frustration with Haesoo, Yoonyi's mother stormed toward her, fists clenched.
"Hey!" she shouted, her voice dripping with venom. "You ungrateful brat! Your dead mother left me with nothing but a burden, and this is how you repay me?" She sneered, eyes full of contempt.
Haesoo blinked in disbelief. "What?" she asked, her expression a mix of confusion and amusement.
"Exactly!" Yoonyi chimed in, her voice laced with bitterness. "My mother sacrificed everything to care for you, and this is how you act?"
Haesoo threw her hands up, exasperated. "Hey!" she yelled, her voice rising in anger.
"What?" Yoonyi countered, her arms crossed. "It's not like your dead mother lived in that house. We have just as much right to it as you do! So how dare you act all mighty when you're living off my mother?"
"Exactly!" Yoonyi's mother chimed in, directing her words to Eun. "Mister, go inside and live comfortably. No need to stick around with these... people." She gestured to Haesoo dismissively before turning on her heel and storming off with her daughter, not waiting for Eun's reply.
Haesoo stared after them, her disbelief almost palpable. She scoffed, shaking her head in utter amazement at their audacity. Then, with a slow, deliberate motion, she turned her attention to Eun, her eyes burning with intensity.
Jiwoon clasped his hands nervously, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead. This was getting uncomfortable.
Eun locked eyes with Haesoo, his gaze unwavering and just as intimidating. He wasn't backing down, not now.
Haesoo came to a halt right in front of him, her smile mischievous and knowing. "Yes! Mister, go in and live your life comfortably, okay?" she teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Then, without missing a beat, she walked away, her head held high, her steps confident.
Eun watched her retreating back, a flicker of pity crossing his features. He wasn't sure whether to feel sorry for her or just amused by the entire situation.
Jiwoon rushed to his side, agitated. "What do we do about the crazy lady?" he asked, still clearly rattled.
Eun cocked his head to the side, unfazed. "What? She's fine," he said nonchalantly, glancing off into the distance.
Jiwoon's brows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean 'she's fine'? She's completely insane!"
Eun sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I did nothing wrong. Her aunt lent me the house, and I paid them. It's not like I know how well the crazy thing takes care of the place."
Jiwoon shook his head, still unsure of what just happened. "Well, that was an... interesting interaction."
Eun chuckled lightly, a smile creeping onto his face. "You have no idea."
