Chapter 252 - Chapter 252 CIA Affairs

"Anna?"

To be honest, Zhang Jie was quite surprised; he hadn't expected to run into Anna here.

"We meet again."

Anna, in her high heels, walked towards the last security guard, then took a glock 17 with a silencer from her bag.

She stood in front of the guard, pointed the gun at his forehead, and asked, "Tell me, where is the accountant Gambino?"

The bodyguard shook his head and said, "I don't know where he went. After arriving at the hotel, he told us to wait for him here, and then he left on his own."

Seeing that the bodyguard had no idea about the accountant's whereabouts, Anna didn't even say a word; she just raised her hand and fired a shot.

Puff!

With a muffled thud, a gushing, bleeding hole appeared in the guard's head.

His body fell to the ground, twitching unconsciously.

Zhang Jie looked at Anna's back and said, "Killing him just like that, isn't it a bit of a waste?"

Anna, however, was unfazed. "Useless things are just a burden if kept around."

After searching around for a bit and finding nothing, she turned and walked towards Zhang Jie.

"I need you to catch that guy Gambino; he has something I really need on him," Anna stated her demand directly.

"You're the employer, you call the shots."

Zhang Jie knew perfectly well that Anna was the employer behind the scenes; he just hadn't expected it to be her. The moment Anna walked in, he had already figured out the crux of the problem.

Zhang Jie quickly recalled; he remembered the elevator seemed to have stopped on the 17th floor.

So, without another word, he opened the door and left. As he walked towards the elevator, Anna, though unsure of his intentions, followed him, not forgetting to close the door on her way out.

"What did you find?"

Anna asked from behind.

"Just a guess, not sure if it's correct."

Zhang Jie arrived at the elevator, pressed the down button. Soon, the elevator from the 15th floor came up. Zhang Jie stepped into the elevator, and Anna followed him in.

To be honest, the Zhang Jie she knew had always been in a state of uselessness. Even after living in the old woman's apartment for so many years, although subsequent intelligence indicated that he had changed a lot and even became a disciple of the Night Demon, she didn't believe he could have made much progress.

But judging from his performance today, this guy had absolutely overturned her imagination and perception of him.

She had seen Zhang Jie's tactics just now clearly; they were so swift and decisive, incredibly fluid.

Using their own people to confuse them, then launching a surprise attack, circling around to the connecting room of the suite, and bursting in from the other side. Such reaction speed, such a plan, could not be attributed to an ordinary assassin.

After Zhang Jie arrived on the 17th floor, he walked out. This floor seemed to be no different from the 19th floor, except for a few more people.

Anna followed Zhang Jie, and although she didn't know what he wanted to do, she felt she might be able to offer some help.

Zhang Jie walked from room to room towards the end of the corridor, pausing briefly at each door before continuing on.

Hotel rooms are actually all cut from the same mold; the only difference is their location.

And when a guest enters a room, the 'Do Not Disturb' light illuminates, initially green.

This hotel also has the same design; unless you enter without inserting the power card, the 'Do Not Disturb' light will definitely come on.

As Zhang Jie walked past these rooms, he wasn't just observing whether the 'Do Not Disturb' light was on; he also pressed each doorbell.

Doorbells with a card inserted would ring, while those without a card inserted would only provide a tactile press feedback, nothing else.

And pausing at the door was simply to judge the sounds inside.

Soon, he walked from beginning to end, and in the last room, when Zhang Jie pressed the doorbell, a sound came from inside.

"Hello, room service!"

Zhang Jie could clearly hear the sounds inside, some grumbling, and two sets of footsteps.

So, Zhang Jie stood to the side outside the door.

Soon, sounds came from inside, and footsteps approached the door, as if someone was checking through the peephole, but he could only see half a face.

This was intentional on Zhang Jie's part; half a face and half a body, coupled with him wearing a suit, made it easy to be mistaken for a hotel service staff.

The sound of the security chain indicated the person was disengaging it, then the door opened a crack, but Zhang Jie suddenly rammed it with his left shoulder.

Bang!

The door was forced open, the woman behind it was knocked directly to the ground, and Zhang Jie had already rushed in, pointing his gun at her.

Anna, following Zhang Jie, also rushed in; she walked directly inside, pointing her gun at the man.

"Who are you?"

The man and woman screamed in extreme terror.

Although they had guns pointed at their heads, they still asked such rather foolish questions.

"Not Gambino."

Anna glanced at them, then shook her head.

Zhang Jie understood, then pulled out his wallet, flashed it in front of them for a moment, and put it away. "CIA business. We suspect there are terrorists in the room. I apologize if we've caused you any inconvenience."

As he spoke, he turned and left with great flair.

The man and woman in the room were full of question marks. What did he just show us?

Who did he say he was?

CIA?

Both had faces full of 'black person question marks'. This was Russia; since when did the CIA's reach extend so far?

However, Anna had seen clearly when Zhang Jie displayed his wallet.

That wallet was indeed interesting, because it was engraved with the American police badge, but the text on it didn't say CIA or FBI or anything; it said 'Foodie'.

This was simply taking advantage of those two having poor eyesight; anyone with slightly better vision wouldn't have been fooled by him.

Especially his casually fabricated excuse, CIA? Please, this is Russia. Aren't you just asking to die faster by claiming to be CIA?

To be honest, Anna found Zhang Jie's wild ideas a bit exasperating; you could say he's quick-witted, and he certainly is, and very decisive, but to say he's very smart, well, perhaps not entirely.

After leaving this room, Zhang Jie quickly went to the elevator, called it, and then went directly to the first floor.

"So, what are your thoughts now?"

Zhang Jie was rapidly recalling everyone he had seen when he came up from the first floor, and he quickly focused his attention on the couple who had left.

In his memory, when he was about to go up, a couple had indeed come out, and the old man in that couple was carrying a briefcase.

"I think I know who that Gambino you're looking for is."

Zhang Jie looked at Anna, then slowly spoke these words.
