She smoothed his collar with both hands, slow, feeling him tense under the fabric.
"Okay," she said.
She smiled at him.
His expression did the thing where it said she was going to answer for all of this and he was going to make absolutely sure of it.
She was looking forward to that.
He got out of the car first. Came around. Opened her door without being asked.
She stepped out.
He looked at her in the flat light of the garage. The dress. Her loosened hair. The expression on her face that she knew was not entirely innocent.
He shook his head once.
Took her hand.
They walked to the elevator.

Hair half-loose, falling soft against one shoulder. Lipstick not fully intact. The specific look of someone who had just been kissed thoroughly in a parking garage and had zero complaints about it.
She fixed nothing.
