"Because if I do, it makes it real. All of it. The failure. The fear. The fact that I might lose everything."
Tears spilled over.
"I don't know how to do this."
"You don't have to know. Just let go."
He stared at her.
Trying to hold on.
To stay in control.
But then his face crumpled.
And he broke.
A sob tore from his throat.
Raw.
Guttural.
"Ah..."
The sound ripped out of him.
Deep.
Wrenching.
Like something inside had shattered completely.
Soorin moved forward.
Wrapped her arms around him.
And Haejin collapsed.
His knees buckled.
She caught him.
Held him tight as they sank to the floor together.
His whole body convulsed with sobs.
"Hng... ah..."
He couldn't even form words.
Just sounds.
Broken.
Devastating.
His hands clutched her shirt.
Fisting the fabric.
Holding on like she was the only thing keeping him from drowning.
The pain in his chest felt exactly like Vegas.
Exactly like waking up alone.
Finding that note.
Reading her goodbye.
